Overview
The Simrad 055-14840-001 is a remanufactured GO9 XSE 9 inch multifunction display with built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, and sonar support, supplied as a chartplotter and fishfinder package with an Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer. The touchscreen is rated at 1200 nits for visibility in sun, and the housing carries IPX6 and IPX7 water ingress ratings for real-world spray and washdowns.
It runs on 10 to 17 V DC, which fits standard 12 V boat systems, and draws 1 A at 13.6 V with sonar off and backlight at max. Two microSD card slots handle charting and data management, and the display resolution is 480 x 800.
This unit is built for helm installs where you want one screen for navigation and sonar, plus room to expand into networking and radar later on.
Key features
- 9 inch multi-touch widescreen with 1200 nits brightness for strong readability in sun
- 12 V system power range: 10 to 17 V DC
- IPX6 and IPX7 water ingress rating for spray and washdowns
- NMEA 2000 compliant networking (1 port, 1 LEN) for engine data, sensors, and compatible accessory control
- Radar interface for Simrad Broadband 3G, Broadband 4G, and Halo radar systems
- Dual microSD card reader for charts, updates, and data handling
- Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer included for CHIRP, SideScan, and DownScan sonar views
Installation and setup
Mount it on the supplied gimbal bracket when you want a tilt mount, or use the dash mounting kit for a cleaner helm finish. The display measures 9.56 x 6.71 x 3.26 inches without the mounting bracket, so it helps to confirm behind-panel clearance and a gentle cable bend radius before committing to a flush cutout.
Power is 10 to 17 V DC. On most boats that means a dedicated 12 V electronics feed, with the connector area kept out of standing water and away from direct hose spray.
Networking and system integration
On an NMEA 2000 backbone, the unit can display engine and tank data, along with sensor information such as speed, heading, and water temperature, and it supports control of compatible systems like audio and autopilot. Wi-Fi adds mobile device mirroring and app-style control, which is handy when you want the screen repeated on a tablet while moving around the boat.
When paired with a compatible Simrad radar, you can bring radar targets onto the chart view for harbor approaches and low visibility runs.
Sonar use on board
With the Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer installed and set up, you can swap between traditional CHIRP and imaging views to separate fish from structure and track bottom changes. ForwardScan is supported with an optional transducer if you want a forward-looking view for shallow approaches and unfamiliar inlets.
This setup fits well on center consoles, small cruisers, sportboats, and RIBs where dash space is limited but you still want a 9 inch screen for both navigation and fishing.
Materials and operating limits
The casing is PC/ABS and the operating temperature range is -15 C to +55 C. Protection includes reverse polarity and temporary over-voltage tolerance up to 36 V.
