Overview
The Simrad 000-12185-001 is a 9-inch portrait fishfinder (S2009) with a 480 x 800 LCD, an integrated Broadband Sounder module, and CHIRP capability for detailed sonar returns and cleaner target separation.
It is IPX7 water-resistant for exposed helm installs, and it can be bracket mounted or flush mounted depending on your dash layout. Operation is keypad-driven with a rotary dial and 8 direct-access menu keys, which helps when you need quick changes while the boat is moving.
The built-in sounder connects to compatible Simrad and Airmar transducers that use the blue 7-pin connector. For system integration, it supports Ethernet plus NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 networking, and it can serve as a dedicated fishfinder display for compatible NSS evo2 systems.
Key features
- 9-inch portrait LCD with 480 x 800 resolution for a tall view of the water column in limited dash space
- Integrated Broadband Sounder module with CHIRP capability
- Vertical heave compensation for steadier bottom tracking in wave action
- Keypad and rotary dial control with 8 direct-access menu keys for fast adjustments underway
- White Line, White Marker, and Color Erase tools for tuning the sonar picture to bottom and conditions
- IPX7 water resistance with bracket and flush mounting options
- Full-size SD card slot for sonar logging and software updates
- Ethernet, NMEA 0183, and NMEA 2000 connectivity for integration with onboard electronics
Installation and setup
Bracket mounting works well when you want the screen raised for standing visibility, or when the console face does not have enough depth for a flush install. Flush mounting is a clean option for pilothouses and tight dashboards, but leave room behind the panel for the transducer lead, network cabling, and SD card access.
Compatibility and system integration
On the sonar side, confirm your transducer connector type before buying; this unit uses the blue 7-pin style, and adapters may be needed when reusing older transducers with different plugs. On the network side, Ethernet is used for sharing data with other Simrad displays, while NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 support common sensor and instrument connections already found on many boats.
Use on board
This fishfinder suits coastal and offshore anglers who want a dedicated sounder screen at the main helm or as a second station, especially when a portrait display makes it easier to read the full water column at a glance while working structure or tracking bait.
