Overview
The Blue Sea Systems DualBus 100A BusBar is a compact common bus bar range that places positive and negative distribution on one block for cleaner wiring in a boat electrical system. It is rated for 100A continuous service, with maximum voltage ratings of 300V AC and 48V DC, so it fits common 12V and 24V DC installations while leaving room for systems up to 48V DC.
Each version uses #8-32 screw terminals and a tin-plated copper CDA 110 / UNS 11000 bus, with a UL 94-V0 rated glass-reinforced thermoplastic base. The layout is useful behind helm panels, inside consoles, in cabin electrical lockers, or near grouped equipment where both feed and return connections need to stay organized and easy to inspect.
Key features
- DualBus layout combines positive and negative buses on one block to reduce wiring clutter in confined marine electrical spaces.
- 100A continuous rating supports small to mid-size branch circuit distribution points when installed with proper upstream circuit protection.
- Rated for up to 300V AC and 48V DC, covering common 12V and 24V boat systems.
- #8-32 screw terminals provide secure ring-terminal connections, with a specified screw terminal torque of 15 in-lb.
- Tin-plated copper CDA 110 / UNS 11000 bus material supports good conductivity in marine electrical installations.
- UL 94-V0 rated glass-reinforced thermoplastic base helps keep the block stable in protected electrical compartments.
- CE and UKCA marked for regulated installations where recognized product compliance matters.
Variants
This DualBus range is offered in two circuit counts, allowing the same basic bus bar format to match different amounts of wiring at the helm, panel, or equipment location.
Both variants share the 100A continuous rating, 300V AC and 48V DC maximum voltage ratings, #8-32 screw terminal type, tin-plated copper bus material, UL 94-V0 glass-reinforced thermoplastic base, 15 in-lb terminal torque, and 5/8 in height.
- 2701: 5 circuit configuration with 5 screw terminals per bus. Its 1.830 in by 3.012 in footprint works well where only a small group of positive and negative connections needs a tidy landing point.
- 2702: 10 circuit configuration with 10 screw terminals per bus. Its 1.830 in by 5.060 in footprint gives more termination points for grouped electronics, accessories, or panel wiring in the same area.
Installation and setup
The mounting holes accept #10 screws, giving the installer a straightforward way to fasten the block to a panel board, backplate, or other protected mounting surface. Keep cable runs supported so vibration is not carried by the terminal screws, and use ring terminals sized for the conductor and the #8-32 screw connection.
Because the bus and terminals are accessible, the block should be installed where accidental contact, spray, and loose gear are controlled. In layouts where the terminals may be exposed during normal use or service, a suitable insulating cover should be considered as part of the installation.
Electrical and system integration
This bus bar is meant for organized distribution, not for circuit protection by itself. Feed circuits should be protected by correctly sized fuses or breakers upstream, and conductor sizing should match the load, run length, temperature conditions, and the vessel's electrical standards.
For boat owners refitting a helm panel, adding electronics, or cleaning up scattered accessory wiring, the DualBus format keeps the positive and negative sides close together without mixing them. That makes later troubleshooting easier because both sides of each circuit can be traced in the same area.
Materials and maintenance
The tin-plated copper bus material helps maintain conductivity in the marine environment when the installation is kept dry and protected. During seasonal service, check that terminal screws remain properly tightened, look for corrosion or heat discoloration, and confirm that conductors are strain relieved and not pulling against the screw terminals.
