Overview
The Raymarine A80585 is a remote MicroSD card reader for Axiom family displays. It gives you a second MicroSD access point at the helm, which helps when the card slot on the back of the display is difficult to reach once the unit is installed in the dash.
This is the RCR-1 reader, built for Raymarine Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom Pro, Axiom Pro 2, and Axiom XL chartplotters. It connects through Micro USB, runs on 5 V dc, and has a peak current draw of 0.25 A. With the lid closed, the housing is rated IPX6 and IPX7, so it suits console and helm locations that see spray and routine washdown.
It adds one MicroSD slot for chart storage, software updates, and saved data without forcing you to work behind the display. The reader includes a 1 m captive cable, which gives more freedom when the display location and the card access point cannot sit in the same opening.
Key features
- Remote MicroSD access for Raymarine Axiom family displays.
- Useful when the display's rear card slot is blocked by the dash or hard to reach in service.
- Single MicroSD slot for charts, software updates, and stored onboard data.
- 5 V dc operation with 0.25 A peak current draw.
- IPX6 and IPX7 protection with the lid closed.
- 1 m captive cable for more flexibility when planning the reader location.
- Micro USB connection to the compatible display.
Compatibility and fit
This reader is meant for Raymarine Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom Pro, Axiom Pro 2, and Axiom XL displays. On Axiom and Axiom+ installations, it is especially useful when the rear MicroSD reader is not readily accessible. On Axiom XL systems, a remote card reader is required for MicroSD card access.
It makes sense on boats with tight helm layouts, enclosed consoles, or multi-display panels where direct access behind the screen is awkward. Owners who update charts regularly or move data on and off the plotter will appreciate having the card slot where it can be reached from the front of the helm.
Installation and setup
The RCR-1 is a practical addition when you want to keep the display fixed in place and still have easy access to removable storage. The included gasket and lock ring support a clean installation at the dash, and the supplied suppression ferrite is there for installations where cable interference needs to be managed.
This is a good match for helms that are already crowded with displays, switch panels, and engine controls, where service access behind the electronics is limited. It also suits boats that rely on chart updates and stored route or track data as part of normal day-to-day use.
What's included
- RCR-1 MicroSD card reader with 1 m captive cable
