Overview
The Raymarine Axiom 2 9 is a 9-inch multifunction chartplotter for helm, cockpit, pilothouse, and flybridge installations where navigation, network control, and optional fishfinder capability need to live on one screen.
This display runs Raymarine LightHouse OS and uses a 6-core processor for faster chart drawing, quicker startup, and smoother handling of radar, sonar, video, and network data. The 9-inch HydroTough IPS touchscreen has a 1280 x 720 widescreen HD resolution and 1500-nit brightness, giving it the visibility needed for day use at the helm.
It is built for 12 V DC boat systems with an 8 V DC to 16 V DC operating range, a 7 A fuse rating, and NMEA 2000 connectivity through the DeviceNet connector on the power cable. The unit is rated IPx6 and IPx7 for exposure to spray, rain, and washdowns, and it supports RayNet Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a MicroSDXC card slot, and 64 GB of internal storage.
Key features
- 9-inch HydroTough IPS touchscreen with 1280 x 720 resolution and 1500-nit brightness for chart viewing at exposed or covered helm stations.
- Runs LightHouse OS with support for navigation, radar, sonar, video, engine data, digital switching, and marine apps from a single display.
- RayNet 10/100/1000 Mbit Ethernet connection for high-speed integration with compatible radar, cameras, sonar modules, and additional Raymarine displays.
- NMEA 2000 connection through the supplied power cable for linking compatible instruments, engines, sensors, and vessel data networks.
- Built-in GPS/GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou with 10 Hz position updates.
- Supports Raymarine LightHouse Charts, Navionics, C-MAP, Florida Marine Tracks, CMOR Mapping, Standard Mapping, StrikeLines, Imray Digital Charts, and S-63 encrypted charts.
- RV sonar versions add RealVision 3D, SideVision, DownVision, high CHIRP, and conventional 50/200 kHz sonar support when matched with compatible transducers and required adapter cables.
- IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings help the display handle spray, rain, and routine washdowns in marine installations.
Variants
This Axiom 2 9 range is offered with different LightHouse chart regions, sonar configurations, and transducer options. Chart choices include no chart, North America, Australia New Zealand, Northern Europe, Western Europe, and Mediterranean coverage.
Sonar choices separate chartplotter-only versions from versions with RealVision 3D sonar. Transducer options include no transducer or an RV-100 transducer on selected RealVision 3D sonar configurations, so the final configuration should match the vessel’s navigation area and whether the installation is being planned as a dedicated chartplotter or as a combined chartplotter and fishfinder.
Installation and setup
The Axiom 2 9 can be trunnion mounted or surface/flush mounted, which gives installers flexibility for open helms, dash panels, and enclosed stations. Trunnion-mounted dimensions are 265.03 mm wide, 187.81 mm high, and 178 mm deep including cables. Surface or flush-mounted dimensions are 244.08 mm wide, 157.78 mm high, and 178 mm deep including cables.
Plan the panel cutout, cable bend radius, and access behind the helm before installation, especially on consoles where steering, switch panels, and existing electronics share the same space. The power/NMEA 2000 cable includes a 1.5 m power lead and a 0.5 m NMEA 2000 lead, which helps keep the installation tidy when the backbone or power distribution is close to the display.
Electrical and network integration
This is a 12 V DC display, not a 24 V DC direct-power device. It should be wired within its 8 V DC to 16 V DC operating range and protected with the specified 7 A fuse. On boats with 24 V DC service, the installation should use an appropriate DC conversion setup that supplies the correct voltage to the display.
The Ethernet, NMEA 2000, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Micro-B, and MicroSDXC connections make the unit suitable for integrated helm systems. It can sit at the center of a network that includes compatible radar, cameras, engine data, instruments, and additional Axiom 2 displays.
Use cases on board
As a chartplotter-only configuration, the Axiom 2 9 suits cruisers, sailboats, and powerboats that need a responsive navigation display with broad chart compatibility and network expansion. With RealVision 3D sonar, it also fits fishing boats and mixed-use vessels where bottom detail, structure, and fishfinding views are part of the day’s operation.
The 9-inch size is a practical middle ground for many helms: large enough for split-screen views and route work, but still manageable on center consoles, sailboat pods, and compact dash panels where a 12-inch display may not fit cleanly.
