Overview
The Raymarine Axiom 2 is a 7-inch marine chartplotter and multifunction display for helm stations that need navigation, networking and optional fish-finder capability in one screen. It uses a 1024 x 600 IPS touchscreen with 1800 nits of brightness, runs on a 12 V DC system with an 8 V DC to 16 V DC operating range, and carries IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof ratings for exposed marine locations.
This Axiom 2 range can be configured as a chartplotter-only display or as an Axiom 2 RV package with built-in RealVision 3D sonar. It brings charting, radar, video, compatible engine data and NMEA 2000 network information into the LightHouse OS interface, which makes it a practical display for a main helm, secondary station or compact cockpit console.
Key features
- 7-inch IPS touchscreen with WSVGA 1024 x 600 resolution and 1800 nits of display brightness for helm viewing in sun.
- LightHouse OS runs on a 6-core processor, with chart rendering up to 30 percent faster.
- Available as a chartplotter-only display or as an Axiom 2 RV configuration with built-in RealVision 3D sonar.
- RealVision 3D sonar versions include SideVision, DownVision, RealVision 3D and CHIRP High sonar channels for fishing and bottom detail.
- RayNet Gigabit Ethernet supports high-speed connection to compatible radar, cameras, sonar modules and additional displays.
- NMEA 2000 connection uses the DeviceNet lead built into the power cable, with LEN 1 for network load planning.
- 12 V DC system support with an 8 V DC to 16 V DC operating range and a 7 A fuse rating.
- IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof ratings suit exposed helm, cockpit and flybridge installations.
- 64 GB internal storage, one microSDXC card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 support chart, data and wireless workflows.
Variants
Across the range, the selectable items are the LightHouse chart region, sonar package and transducer bundle. Chart choices include No Chart, North America, Australia New Zealand, Northern Europe, Western Europe and Mediterranean. Sonar choices are No Sonar or RealVision 3D Sonar, and transducer choices are No Transducer or RV-100 Transducer where that bundle is offered.
The display size remains 7 inches across these configurations. The main decision is whether the boat needs only navigation and network display functions, or an Axiom 2 RV setup with built-in sonar and an optional RV-100 transducer for transom-mount installations.
Compatibility and integration
Axiom 2 works with Raymarine LightHouse Charts, Navionics, C-MAP, Florida Marine Tracks, CMOR Mapping, Standard Mapping, StrikeLines, Imray Digital Charts and S-63 encrypted charts. Chart availability and coverage depend on the selected chart package and the card or download used on the boat.
For networked electronics, the display connects through RayNet Gigabit Ethernet and NMEA 2000, so it can sit at the center of a helm system with compatible radar, cameras, sensors, engine data and additional Axiom displays. Wireless features also allow route sharing and app-based workflows where supported by the installed system.
Installation and mounting
For surface or flush mounting, the 7-inch display measures 201.1 mm wide by 133 mm high, with 218 mm depth including cables. On the trunnion bracket, it measures 250.4 mm wide by 162.5 mm high, with the same 218 mm cable depth. Check rear clearance before cutting a panel, especially on small consoles where steering hardware, switch panels and cable bends share the same space.
The unit is built for 12 V DC electrical systems. It should not be planned as a direct 24 V DC load unless the installation includes suitable voltage conversion.
Use on board
This range fits center consoles, cruising powerboats, sailboat helms and compact flybridge stations where a 7-inch display is easier to place than a larger MFD. The chartplotter-only configurations suit boats that already have separate sonar hardware or mainly need navigation and network display functions, while the RealVision 3D Sonar configurations suit fishing setups that need bottom view and fish-finder functions from the same screen.
