Overview
The Hella Marine 002620801 is a 2-pole plug and socket set for making a disconnectable 12V connection on board where you want a clean, water-resistant interface instead of exposed terminals. It is rated for loads up to 10A at 12V and uses chrome brass housings with brass contacts.
The socket includes a plastic cap to keep spray and grime out when the outlet is not in use. The plug is suitable for cable up to 6.5mm outer diameter, which fits many common two-core marine cables used for small accessories and lighting circuits.
This style of connector is handy when gear needs to come off the boat or be moved around, while still keeping the wiring tidy at the mounting point.
Key features
- 2-pole plug and socket set for low-voltage DC circuits on board
- Maximum load: 10A at 12V
- Chrome brass housings with brass contacts for conductivity that holds up in marine environments
- Socket includes a plastic cap to cover the outlet when unplugged
- Plug accepts cable up to 6.5mm outer diameter
- Screw terminal connections for straightforward wiring and service
- Suitable for exterior or interior installations
Installation and setup
Mount the socket where the cap can close fully and where the back of the fitting is protected from constant water exposure. Land each conductor securely on the screw terminals and add strain relief so vibration and cable movement do not transfer into the connection. Keep the circuit properly protected at the source based on the accessory load.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm your cable jacket diameter is within the 6.5mm limit and that you have enough clearance behind the mounting surface for the socket body and wiring bends. This connector is intended for 12V systems up to 10A, so it suits many small onboard loads, but it is not the right choice for higher-current devices.
Use cases on board
It works well for removable cockpit or cabin accessories, temporary service connections during maintenance, and other spots where you want to unplug an item without disturbing the fixed wiring. The capped socket is also practical in lockers, under coamings, and other areas that see spray and general washdown.
