Overview

The JL Audio 010-03131-00 is a JL Audio MMR-20-BE wired remote controller that gives you direct control of a MediaMaster source unit from a second location on board.

It mounts in a 2-inch (50 mm) cutout with a round, one-hole layout and a 2.36-inch (60 mm) face. When properly installed, the control surface carries an IP67 water-resistance rating, and the backlit buttons and LED source indicators stay easy to read in full sun or at night.

Cable planning is the main fit check: each remote can be installed up to 75 ft (22.8 m) from the source unit (total cable length), and systems can be expanded to as many as three remotes on a single source unit with the appropriate splitter.

Installation and setup

Plan the mounting spot with both ergonomics and cable routing in mind. You will need rear access to tighten the hardware and to route the cable so it is supported and kept away from sharp edges or moving gear.

Cut a 2-inch (50 mm) hole, seat the gasket, and secure the remote using the included threaded studs and C-bracket. A lipped gasket comes preinstalled for most panels, and an optional flat gasket can be used when you want a lower-profile look.

Compatibility and fit

This remote is made to work with JL Audio MediaMaster source units and connects using a compatible remote extension cable. If you are placing it at a second helm, in the cockpit, or near a transom bench, confirm the cable path first and keep connectors in locations that will not sit in standing water.

On-board use

The LED indicators show the active source, and the source button cycles through available sources (radio, USB, Bluetooth, AUX). Since the remote does not have a display, deeper browsing and tuner changes are handled at the main source unit, while the remote keeps the day-to-day controls within easy reach.

This is a good match for boats where the main head unit is out of arm’s reach while running, fishing, or entertaining, and you want quick control without moving between stations.
