Overview
The Attwood Marine LightArmor LED Fast Action is an all-round LED navigation light for boats that need a plug-in white light with 360 degree visibility. It is part of the 5530 series and is available in 24", 36", 42", and 54" pole lengths, giving boat owners a practical way to match the replacement pole height already used on the vessel or meet the required clearance above sidelights.
This light uses a flexible composite pole, an impact-resistant polycarbonate lens, and a black matte finish that helps reduce glare at the helm. The head can be adjusted from 15 degree fore to 15 degree aft, which is useful when leveling the light after it is installed so the output stays flat and unobstructed while the boat is floating.
The 5530 series is made for 12V DC boat lighting circuits and is rated for 2 nautical mile visibility on boats up to 39.4 ft, or 12 m. It is ISO 19009:2015 certified and built for exposure to water, UV, and corrosion in normal marine use.
Key features
- All-round white LED navigation light with 360 degree visibility for running and anchor light use when installed with the correct switching arrangement.
- 2 nautical mile visibility rating for boats up to 39.4 ft, or 12 m.
- 12V DC operation, with positive lighting wiring requiring a 1 amp fuse for circuit protection.
- Flexible composite pole helps the light handle contact with low branches, blind frames, gear, and other obstacles common on fishing and hunting boats.
- Impact-resistant polycarbonate lens helps protect the LED head in exposed cockpit, stern, and deck locations.
- Adjustable anti-glare head moves 15 degree fore to 15 degree aft to help keep the lens level and reduce light spill toward the operator.
- Threaded locking collar fits LightArmor plug-in light bases for a secure pole connection.
- LED light engine is rated for 50,000 hours, reducing lamp changes compared with older incandescent pole lights.
Variants
This LightArmor Fast Action all-round light is offered in several pole lengths. The main difference between the variants is the height of the pole, while the all-round LED light head, plug-in format, black finish, and LightArmor base compatibility remain consistent across the listed configurations.
When replacing an existing all-round pole light, the pole should be at least as long as the light being replaced, and the LED source must sit high enough to remain visible above sidelights and boat structure.
- 5530-24BP7, pole length 24". This shorter pole is useful where a lower stern or cockpit light position still leaves the all-round light visible and unobstructed.
- 5530-36BP7, pole length 36". This mid-height option suits many small powerboats where the light needs more clearance above rails, seats, or a low windshield.
- 5530-42BP7, pole length 42". The added height can help keep the light visible around fishing gear, canvas, or raised cockpit structure.
- 5530-54BP7, pole length 54". This taller pole is suited to installations where the all-round light needs extra elevation above the deck layout or surrounding equipment.
Installation and setup
This is a plug-in pole light for use with compatible LightArmor plug-in bases. The locking collar should be seated securely at the base, and the pole should be checked periodically so it remains tight during vibration, trailering, and normal boat movement.
LED navigation lights must be wired with correct polarity. After installation, the light should be tested before night operation, and the circuit should be arranged so the all-round light can operate with sidelights for running and by itself for anchor lighting.
Use on board
This light is a strong match for fishing boats, duck boats, center consoles, skiffs, and other small craft where an exposed stern or cockpit pole light may be bumped, flexed, or removed between trips. The black matte finish and adjustable head also help in layouts where glare at the helm is a concern.
For the best result, mount the base where the light can shine 360 degree without being blocked by canvas, passengers, outboards, towers, or rod holders. The light should not shine directly into the operator’s field of view or reflect off bright surfaces near the helm.
Maintenance and care
When the light is not in use, remove it from the base and store it where the lens and pole will not be crushed or left sitting in standing water. Keep the plug-in contacts clean and dry, and inspect the collar and pole before each night run or overnight anchoring use.
