Overview
The Blue Sea Systems DualBus Plus is a dual busbar that combines positive and negative distribution on one block, giving small marine electrical upgrades a cleaner termination point without adding separate busbars. It is rated for 150A DC and 130A AC, with maximum voltage ratings of 48V DC and 300V AC.
Each bus has five #10-32 screw terminals and two terminal studs, so it works well as a central connection point for electronics, lighting, pumps, stereo equipment, and other branch circuits where positive and negative wiring need to stay organized. A clear polycarbonate snap-on cover helps protect the terminals and meets USCG and ABYC insulation requirements.
Key features
- Combines positive and negative buses on one block to reduce wiring clutter in compact marine electrical panels.
- Five #10-32 screw terminals per bus give multiple branch circuits a tidy termination point.
- Two terminal studs per bus support larger feed or return connections, with stud size depending on the selected variant.
- 150A DC continuous rating supports common accessory distribution layouts on 12V and 24V boats, within the 48V DC maximum rating.
- Tin-plated copper bus material helps maintain good conductivity in damp marine environments.
- UL 94-V0 rated glass-reinforced thermoplastic base adds insulation and structure for onboard electrical installations.
- Clear polycarbonate cover snaps over the block and meets USCG and ABYC insulation requirements.
Variants
This product is offered in two stud configurations for matching the main cable lugs and hardware used in the boat’s electrical system.
The screw-terminal layout, bus function, 150A DC rating, 48V DC maximum rating, clear cover, and five-terminal-per-bus arrangement remain the same across these configurations.
- 2723: 5/16 in-18 stud version. This configuration suits installations where the main positive and negative cable lugs are sized for 5/16 in studs.
- 2722: 1/4 in-20 stud version. This configuration suits installations where the main positive and negative cable lugs are sized for 1/4 in studs.
Installation and setup
Mount the block in a dry, accessible electrical area such as behind a distribution panel, inside a console, or near a battery switch and accessory fuse block. The base uses #10 or M5 mounting screws, and the cover should remain accessible so connections can be inspected without disturbing the wiring layout.
Use properly crimped marine terminals, match lug size to the selected stud version, and torque the screw terminals and studs to the specified values for the variant being installed. This helps avoid loose connections caused by vibration and repeated heating and cooling cycles on board.
Compatibility and fit
The DualBus Plus is a good match for boats that need a compact positive and negative distribution point for electronics and accessory wiring. It is useful during refits or add-ons where new equipment such as chartplotters, radios, pumps, lighting circuits, or USB chargers needs a cleaner connection point than stacking conductors on one battery or switch terminal.
Because the main difference between the variants is stud size, the key fit check is the terminal lug hardware already planned for the main feed and return cables. The 2723 uses 5/16 in-18 studs, while the 2722 uses 1/4 in-20 studs.
