Overview

The Attwood Marine LightArmor is an LED all-round folding pole light for 12V boat navigation lighting, with 2 nautical mile, 360-degree visibility for boats up to 39.4 ft (12 m). It runs on 10.5V DC to 14.4V DC and draws 1.8 watts at 12V DC, making it a practical fit for small powerboats that need an all-round white light without adding much electrical load.

This LightArmor pole light uses a mid-point hinge so the pole folds in half for storage. That matters on boats where a taller all-round light is needed to sit at least one meter above the sidelights, but a full-length pole is awkward to stow in a locker, under a gunwale, or inside a console.

The standard 2-pin pole format is intended for compatible 2-pin bases. The LED light engine includes anti-glare and condensation-management features, and the electronics are built to handle shock, corrosion, and water exposure in normal marine use.

Variants

This product is offered in two pole-length configurations. Both are LightArmor LED all-round folding pole lights with a standard 2-pin pole format; the practical difference is the overall pole length.

The length should be matched to the boat’s light placement so the all-round light sits high enough above the sidelights and surrounding structures when installed.

• 5570-60-1: 60-inch pole length. This version suits installations where a 60-inch all-round light gives the needed height while keeping the removed pole a little easier to stow.
• 5570-72-1: 72-inch pole length. This version gives extra height for boats where the mounting base sits lower or where the light needs to clear windshields, canvas, or other deck structures.

Installation and fit

Check the existing base before ordering. This is the standard 2-pin pole style, so the plug and collar style need to match the base already installed on the boat or the replacement base being used.

For navigation light placement, verify that the all-round light will be visible through a full 360 degrees and will not be blocked by a bimini, T-top, windshield frame, rod holders, antennas, or passengers. On many small powerboats, the longer pole is used when the base is mounted low at the transom or aft deck.

Use on board

This light is a good match for boats that need a removable all-round white light for running after dark, sitting at anchor, or complying with navigation light requirements on evening fishing trips and dock-to-dock runs. The folding pole is especially useful when storage space is tight and a rigid long pole would be inconvenient.
