Overview
The Garmin 010-11056-00 is an alarm buzzer that wires to your Course Computer Unit (CCU) to sound audible alerts from a GHP 10 or GHP 10V autopilot system. It adds a clear, audible cue at the helm when the autopilot needs your attention, which is helpful when wind and engine noise make it easy to miss on-screen messages.
This is a simple, hardwired alarm with a two-wire lead: white is positive and black is negative. It mounts near the helm station and can be tucked under the dashboard, then secured with cable ties or suitable mounting hardware.
For wiring, the buzzer connects to the alarm leads on the CCU harness: white (+) to red (+), and black (-) to blue (-). If you need to extend the run, use 28 AWG wire for the appropriate conductors, then solder and protect the connections.
Key features
- Audible alarm for GHP 10 and GHP 10V autopilot alerts when connected to the CCU
- Two-wire hookup with clear polarity identification (white positive, black negative)
- Matches the CCU alarm lead colors: white (+) to red (+), black (-) to blue (-)
- Intended mounting location is near the helm station, including under-dash installations
- Supports extended routing when needed by splicing with 28 AWG wire and protecting the connections
Installation and setup
Plan the buzzer location where it can be heard from your normal steering position, then route the cable back to the bare-wire alarm leads on the CCU harness. Make the polarity-correct connections, solder the splices, and cover them so they stay protected from vibration and corrosion. Secure the buzzer body so it will not rattle behind the helm or chafe on sharp edges.
Compatibility and fit
This buzzer is for installations where the autopilot’s CCU provides dedicated alarm leads (red positive and blue negative) and the system uses a separate buzzer for audible alerts. It does not tie into NMEA 2000 or a network backbone; it is a direct, wired alarm connection to the CCU harness.
Use on board
On boats that see a lot of engine noise, wind noise, or cockpit activity, an audible alert helps you catch autopilot prompts during docking, channel transits, offshore legs, and night runs. It is a good match for helms where the control head is not always in your direct line of sight, or where you want a second cue beyond the display.
