Overview
The Hella Marine 006805801 is a 4-pin waterproof plug and socket set with screw terminals for extra-low-voltage boat wiring where you want a clean disconnect point that can live in wet areas.
It carries an IP67 rating and uses a flush-mount socket with a protective cap, so the contacts can be covered when the plug is not connected. The plug is sized for cable up to 8.0 mm diameter, and the 4-pin screw terminals accept conductors up to 4 mm2.
This style of connector is commonly used anywhere you need four conductors across a removable connection, such as a hardtop accessory harness, a mast base circuit bundle, or a panel section that needs to come off for service.
Key features
- 4-pin plug and socket set with screw-terminal wiring
- IP67-rated sealing for dust-tight protection and temporary immersion
- Flush-mount socket for interior or exterior panels, with a protective cap for the receptacle
- Threaded coupling that locks the plug to the socket to reduce accidental uncoupling
- Plug accepts cable up to 8.0 mm diameter
- Screw terminals support conductors up to 4 mm2 (without ferrules)
- Impact-resistant plastic housing with silver-plated contact parts
Installation and wiring
Plan the mount so there is room behind the panel for the socket body and for bending radius on the conductors. Strip the conductors to suit the screw terminals, tighten evenly, and add strain relief nearby so the connector is not carrying cable weight or vibration.
Once wired, mate the plug and socket and tighten the threaded ring until it is fully seated. Keep the cap closed whenever the plug is unplugged, especially in salt spray areas.
Compatibility and fit
This connector is intended for extra-low-voltage DC systems (up to 48 V) and is typically used on 12 V and 24 V boats. The contact rating for the 4-pin version is up to 16 A, so it fits many accessory circuits, but it is still worth checking the load of each conductor in your specific installation.
Maintenance and care
Rinse off salt when you can and check the terminal screws occasionally, especially on boats that see a lot of vibration. If the connector is opened for service, make sure any seals are seated before putting it back into use.
