Overview

The Garmin 010-02679-00 is a 6-inch touchscreen chartplotter and sonar combo for boats that need full navigation and fishfinding in a compact display. It runs on 9 to 18 Vdc, uses a 3 A fast-acting fuse (included), and carries an IPX7 water rating for normal spray and washdowns.

This version comes with a worldwide basemap and supports premium chart options through a single microSD card slot. The screen is 800 x 480 resolution and uses a touchscreen with keyed assist, which is helpful when your hands are wet or you want quick, positive button presses at speed.

On the integration side, it is NMEA 2000 compatible for bringing supported boat data onto the screen, and it includes built-in Wi-Fi for sharing sonar, waypoints, and routes with compatible ECHOMAP UHD2 units.

Charting and navigation

The built-in worldwide basemap is a solid starting point for planning and basic navigation, and the microSD slot lets you add detailed cartography when you want it. It supports Garmin chart options such as Garmin Navionics+, Garmin Navionics Vision+, BlueChart g3, and LakeVü g3.

Positioning uses multi-band, multi-constellation GPS support, which can help in places where signal reflections or marginal coverage make basic GPS wander.

Sonar and transducer pairing

The 62sv supports three sonar views on one screen: traditional CHIRP for fish arches, plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning for structure and bottom detail. Because this part number is the no-transducer package, plan your transducer choice around your hull type and mounting location, then connect it to the unit’s 12-pin sonar port using the included adapter cable where applicable.

If you plan to add LiveScope, it connects through a physical Garmin Marine Network connection. That wired link is also the route for sharing LiveScope between compatible units.

Installation and fit

For smaller center consoles, bass boats, skiffs, and compact helms, the 6-inch footprint is easy to place without giving up legibility. If you are flush mounting, confirm you have the depth behind the dash and enough room for cable bend radius before cutting.

Power wiring is straightforward on 12 V systems, and the 9 to 18 Vdc input range helps when voltage sags during cranking. Keep the unit outside compass-safe distance where possible (28 cm) and route sonar and network cables away from high-current lines to reduce interference.
