Overview
The JL Audio Marine RCA Y-adapter is an RCA interconnect adapter for splitting or adapting low-level audio connections in a boat stereo system. It uses a tight twisted-pair layout with oxygen-free copper conductors and polyethylene dielectrics to help keep noise down in a real boat wiring environment.
The cable is finished in a white, small-diameter PVC jacket with molded connector bodies that are short by design for tight spaces behind a helm, in a glovebox stereo cavity, or inside an amp rack. Connection points use machined brass contact elements with nickel plating.
Pick the connector layout that matches what is on your gear (male RCA plug vs female RCA jack). No power is required, and it fits standard RCA audio connections used on marine source units, processors, and amplifiers.
Key features
- RCA Y-adapter format for line-level audio interconnects in marine stereo systems
- Tight twisted-pair construction with oxygen-free copper conductors and polyethylene dielectrics
- White, small-diameter PVC jacket that routes cleanly through crowded rigging paths
- Molded connector bodies with soft grips and a short profile for tight installs
- Machined brass contact elements with nickel plating for consistent connections
- Flexible silicone channel splitters to help when routing through small openings
- Two connector layouts available: 1 female to 2 male, or 1 male to 2 female
Variants
This product is offered in multiple configurations to match the connector layout you need at the equipment end of the run.
The difference between variants is the RCA gender arrangement (how many female jacks vs male plugs). Core construction details like twisted-pair conductors, molded connector bodies, and machined brass connector elements remain consistent across the range.
- 010-13552-00: Female Jack Quantity 1 (1 female RCA to 2 male RCA). This layout is commonly used when a single RCA connection needs to feed two RCA inputs without changing the rest of the cable run.
- 010-13553-00: Female Jack Quantity 2 (1 male RCA to 2 female RCA). This layout is commonly used when you need a single male RCA connection that branches into two female jack connection points for standard RCA cables.
Compatibility and fit
These adapters use standard RCA connectors (male plug and female jack), the same style found on most marine stereos, signal processors, and amplifiers. Confirm whether the port you are plugging into is a male plug or a female jack, and match the variant accordingly.
In cramped installations, pay attention to clearance around the RCA ports. A short connector body helps when equipment is mounted close to a bulkhead or stacked in a rack.
Installation and setup
Route the adapter where it will not be under constant strain, and secure nearby cabling so vibration does not work the connection loose over time. Keeping RCA interconnects separated from high-current power wiring and switching devices helps reduce the chance of induced noise.
In most audio systems, Y-adapters are used to split one output into two inputs. Using a Y-adapter to combine two source outputs into one input can create level and impedance issues, so that wiring approach should be avoided unless the system is specifically built for it.
Use on board
This adapter fits common boat audio scenarios like feeding two amplifier inputs from a single pre-out, tidying up an amp rack with limited cable reach, or adapting a connection when the existing run is the wrong gender at one end. It is a practical match for boats running multi-amp or multi-zone audio where cable routing space is tight and clean signal paths matter.
