Overview

The Garmin 010-02686-01 is a 7-inch touchscreen chartplotter and fishfinder with keyed assist, preloaded with Canada inland and coastal Garmin Navionics+ cartography, and supplied without a transducer. Installation and setup

The included tilt mount works well on a console top, electronics box, or helm brow where you want quick viewing angle changes. Flush mounting is a clean fit for a dash panel, and it helps to plan cable routing before cutting so the connectors are not forced into a tight bend behind the display.

On open boats that see spray and washdowns, place the unit where it is easy to reach for the touchscreen and keys, but not where a rod butt or cooler lid will routinely hit the display. Use the sun cover when the boat is stored to protect the screen from UV and dockside scuffs.

Electrical and system integration

Power it from a 12 V DC circuit that stays within 9 to 18 Vdc. If your boat has a 24 V house bank, plan a regulated step-down supply rather than feeding it directly. Current draw is about 1.52 A typical at 12 Vdc, with up to 3.2 A peak, so size wiring and switching with that in mind.

NMEA 2000 networking can bring supported data from compatible gear onto the display, but the chartplotter still needs its own power connection. For sharing between displays and app functions, built-in Wi-Fi handles wireless connections without running extra network cabling between units.

Sonar and transducer compatibility

This version ships without a transducer, which is helpful when you already have a transducer on the boat or you want to choose one that matches how you fish. Traditional sonar plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning are available when you pair the unit with a compatible transducer, and the included 12-pin sounder to 8-pin transducer cable supports common 8-pin transducer connections.

If you plan to add LiveScope, it requires the appropriate LiveScope sonar hardware and transducer (sold separately). For best results, match the transducer style to your mounting location and hull type, then run the transducer cable away from high-current wiring to keep sonar noise down.
