Overview
The Garmin 010-10580-00 is an RJ45 network cable coupler used to join two Garmin marine network cables end-to-end when you need a longer run.
It creates a single junction point between two cable ends, which is handy when a radar, sounder module, or network switch ends up just out of reach after routing through a hardtop, console, or rigging tube. Because it is built for Garmin marine network cabling, it keeps your network extension clean without cutting or splicing the cable jackets.
Key features
- Joins two Garmin marine network cables end-to-end using RJ45 large connectors
- Extends a network run without re-pulling a longer single cable through tight chases
- Keeps factory-terminated cable ends intact, avoiding field splices in the electronics network
- Useful anywhere Garmin networked equipment needs a little more reach between connection points
Compatibility and fit
This coupler is meant for Garmin marine network cables that terminate in RJ45 large connectors. Verify both cable ends match the same connector style before ordering, since this part is a straight coupler and does not adapt between connector types.
It is used on Garmin networked systems where components communicate over the Garmin marine network, such as chartplotters, fishfinders, radar, and network expansion hardware that use this cabling style.
Installation and setup
Install the coupler where the two cable ends can meet without tension. Leave enough service loop to unplug the connection later, and secure the nearby cabling so vibration and movement do not work the connectors loose over time.
For best long-term reliability, place the coupler in a protected location such as behind the helm, inside a console, or in an electronics locker. If the area can see spray or washdowns, route the connection into a suitable protected enclosure rather than leaving it exposed.
Use on board
This is a practical fit for boats where electronics get added over time and the original network cable run ends up slightly short, including installations that route up a tower, through a T-top, or forward into a cabin or bow compartment.
It also helps when refits require moving displays or adding a networked accessory and you want to extend the run at an accessible junction point instead of re-running the full cable path.
