Overview
The Victron Energy BPA000100010R is a Battery Alarm GX panel for monitoring a 12V or 24V battery bank and warning the crew when voltage moves outside the set limits. It gives both audible and visual alarms, so a low battery condition or charging fault is easier to catch before it becomes a larger electrical problem on board.
The alarm thresholds are set with DIP switches, which keeps setup simple and does not require a separate display or software tool. Standard 12V settings include a 10.5V low alarm, 11.5V low alarm reset, and 15.5V high alarm; standard 24V settings include a 21V low alarm, 23V low alarm reset, and 30V high alarm.
A potential-free relay contact with normally open and normally closed contacts lets the alarm signal be tied into another warning circuit or control panel when a remote indication is useful. For boats with house batteries, start batteries, or a small DC system that needs a clear local warning point, this panel gives a straightforward way to keep voltage problems visible.
Key features
- Monitors 12V or 24V battery banks for low and high voltage alarm conditions.
- Audible and visual alarms help make battery voltage issues noticeable at the panel.
- DIP switch programming sets battery voltage type, alarm thresholds, and hysteresis without software.
- Potential-free contact includes normally open and normally closed terminals for external alarm signalling.
- Standard 12V setup uses 10.5V low alarm on, 11.5V low alarm off, and 15.5V high alarm values.
- Standard 24V setup uses 21V low alarm on, 23V low alarm off, and 30V high alarm values.
Installation and setup
The Battery Alarm GX is intended for panel mounting where the alarm can be seen and heard from the helm, nav station, electrical panel, or another protected control area. During installation, the DIP switches are set for the battery system voltage and the preferred alarm behavior before the panel is put into service.
The wiring includes battery positive and negative connections, plus the relay contact terminals for external signalling. The normally open and normally closed contact options give flexibility when connecting the unit to another alarm input, indicator, or control circuit.
Electrical integration
This unit is useful on boats where battery voltage needs a simple local guard without adding a full monitoring display. It can be used alongside chargers, solar charging equipment, alternator charging, or DC distribution systems to warn when voltage drops too far during use or rises too high during charging.
The adjustable hysteresis helps prevent nuisance cycling around the alarm point. For marine electrical panels that see changing loads from pumps, electronics, refrigeration, lighting, and onboard accessories, that behavior matters because battery voltage can move quickly when equipment switches on and off.
Use cases on board
The Battery Alarm GX is a practical match for cruising boats, fishing boats, workboats, and refits where the crew wants a dedicated battery warning panel instead of relying only on occasional meter checks. It is especially useful at the helm or main electrical panel, where a clear alarm can prompt a quick look at charging status, battery isolation, or load management.
