Overview
The TACO Marine F16-1200 is a stamped stainless-steel eye strap for adding a fixed clip point on a boat, commonly used with hooks, clips, lanyards, canvas ties, and light rigging. It has a 1/2" opening diameter and a compact 2" length, 3/8" width, and 11/16" height, so it fits neatly on rails, cockpit panels, deck areas, console faces, and other places where a small attachment point is needed.
This eye strap is made from Type-304 stainless steel with a polished finish. It is a simple piece of deck and rigging hardware, but fit still matters: check the mounting surface, fastener clearance, and pull direction before installing it, especially where clips may pull at an angle or the strap will see vibration.
Key features
- Stamped stainless-steel eye strap, also known as a camel back, for securing clips, hooks, and small tie-down points on board.
- Type-304 stainless steel construction with a polished finish for use around normal marine hardware installations.
- 1/2" opening diameter gives a practical clip point for compatible hooks and snap clips.
- Compact footprint, measuring 2" long, 3/8" wide, and 11/16" high per piece.
- Useful for cockpit, deck, canvas, shade, fishing, and general rigging attachment points where a fixed eye is needed.
- Covered by a 5-year limited warranty.
Installation and fit
Before drilling, hold the strap in place with the clip or hook you plan to use and confirm that the 1/2" opening gives the hardware enough movement without binding. The 2" length helps it sit on narrow mounting areas, but the surface should be flat enough for the strap to seat evenly.
Use fasteners and backing appropriate for the mounting surface, especially on fiberglass, aluminum, or cored panels. Bedding the fastener holes helps reduce water intrusion around deck or cockpit installations.
Use cases on board
This part suits boat owners adding or replacing a small clip point for canvas straps, gear tethers, light rigging, or fishing hardware. It works well where the attachment point needs to stay low profile and where the installer can match the mounting hardware to the boat structure.
Materials and care
Type-304 stainless steel should still be rinsed and kept free of trapped salt, especially in exposed cockpit or deck locations. A quick freshwater rinse and occasional wipe-down help preserve the polished finish and make it easier to spot any fastener movement over time.
