Installation and setup

The bail mount and quick-release cradle make sense for boats where the display comes off between trips, while flush mounting keeps the helm cleaner and protects the edges of the screen. Plan a little clearance behind the unit for cables and connectors, and keep the microSD slots accessible if you update charts or move data between cards.

Power is straightforward on a 12 V system, and the current draw is worth checking if the electronics bus is already loaded. If you are installing on a small console with limited airflow, keeping wiring tidy and strain-relieved helps long-term reliability in heat and vibration.

Sonar and transducer notes

This chartplotter has a 12-pin scanning sonar port and supports CHIRP traditional sonar plus ClearVü and SideVü from a compatible transducer, but a standard scanning sonar transducer is not included in this bundle. The included 8-pin to 12-pin adapter cable is useful when reusing an existing 8-pin transducer while upgrading to the 12-pin sounder connection.

LiveScope and Panoptix are supported, which is the typical path for anglers running live-scanning sonar alongside mapping. LiveScope sonar cannot be shared wirelessly between two ECHOMAP Ultra 2 or ECHOMAP UHD2 chartplotters.

Mapping and navigation

Garmin Navionics+ U.S. Inland and Coastal mapping is included, with built-in Auto Guidance+ and tide tables. The unit also supports a range of optional cartography formats and mapping options, including Garmin Navionics Vision+ for those who want additional chart presentation styles.

Who it fits on board
