Overview
The Attwood Marine 1166136 is a bow-mount bi-color stowaway navigation light with a 10 inch straight pole, 12V operation, and a 225 degree light pattern rated for 1 nautical mile on boats up to 12 m.
It is built for boats where the bow light needs to sit above a trolling motor, anchor, or other foredeck gear without leaving a fixed pole in the way when the boat is being fished, anchored, or trailered. The anodized aluminum pole lifts the light head for a clearer forward position, and the light can be removed from the base and stowed when the bow needs to stay clear. The housing uses UV-stable polycarbonate, and the bulb and socket assembly are enclosed for a splash-resistant seal.
Key features
- 10 inch straight pole raises the light head above common bow obstructions such as trolling motor mounts and anchors
- Bi-color red and green sidelight with 225 degree coverage and 1 nautical mile visibility for boats up to 12 m
- 2-pin locking-collar plug-in pole can be removed from the base for stowaway use
- Anodized aluminum pole with impact-resistant, UV-stable polycarbonate housing
- Uses a 9 watt wedge base bulb and fits into a standard 12V navigation light circuit
Installation and fit
This light is meant for bow mounting as far forward as practical so the light pattern stays unobstructed. The 10 inch straight pole suits boats that need some lift at the bow but do not need a taller plug-in light. It is important to match the pole to the 2-pin base style already on the boat.
Because the pole is removable, it works well on boats where the foredeck is used actively for casting, anchoring, or moving around at the dock. When the light is not in use, it can be unplugged and stowed so it is less likely to get in the way or take accidental knocks.
Electrical and system integration
This is the forward bi-color light in a standard navigation light setup. It is used on a 12V system and should be wired on a fused positive feed. In a typical running light layout, it operates with a three-position switch that handles running lights, anchor light, and off.
Use on board
This light makes sense for smaller powerboats, fishing boats, and other trailerable boats up to 12 m that use a removable bow light rather than a fixed deck-mounted unit. It is a practical fit when the bow area is busy and the light needs to come out quickly after night running is done.
