Overview

The Perko Pilot House Control Searchlight is a 7-inch sealed beam searchlight with a white powder coated brass body and lever control from inside the pilothouse. It is built for helm stations where the light needs to be aimed from below the mounting surface, making it a practical fit for pilothouses, enclosed bridges, patrol boats, workboats, and larger cruising boats that need controlled forward lighting at night.

The lever handle controls both horizontal and vertical movement, with 380 degrees of horizontal travel and 70 degrees of vertical travel. It can be set for a continuous back-and-forth sweep or positioned with manual toggle controls, which helps when checking markers, locating moorings, scanning a dock approach, or putting light on a working area forward of the vessel.

This white 7-inch version is offered for 12V, 24V, and 32V DC systems. The housing uses corrosion-resistant, splash-proof construction with tin-plated electrical contacts and wiring, and it is rated for ceiling thickness up to 5 inches.

Variants

This searchlight is offered in three voltage configurations for different vessel electrical systems. Each version uses the same 7-inch white pilot house control searchlight format, while voltage, beam candle power, and wattage vary by model.

The shared layout keeps the installation concept consistent across the range: a white powder coated brass searchlight head above the mounting surface with lever control from the pilothouse below.

• 0314W0712V: 12V, 250,000 beam candle power, 100W. This version matches vessels with a 12V DC system and keeps the electrical load lower than the higher-voltage, higher-wattage option.
• 0314W0724V: 24V, 470,000 beam candle power, 450W. This version suits boats with a 24V DC system and has the highest beam candle power in this 7-inch white group.
• 0314W0732V: 32V, 260,000 beam candle power, 200W. This version supports older or commercial-style 32V DC systems where matching the vessel voltage is the main fit requirement.

Installation and setup

The light mounts from above, with the control tube, control rod, and wiring passing through the deck or overhead structure to the pilothouse control handle below. The mounting location should allow the required sweep range and should place the handle where the operator can aim the light naturally from the helm.

During installation, the handle position can be aligned with the direction of the searchlight, and control tension can be adjusted at the handle assembly. Electrical supply connections should be made using proper marine wiring practices for the selected 12V, 24V, or 32V version.

Electrical and system fit

The main fit check is voltage. The searchlight must match the vessel DC system because each variant has its own voltage, wattage, and sealed beam specification. The 12V model is rated at 100W, the 24V model at 450W, and the 32V model at 200W.

Because this is a lever-controlled searchlight rather than a networked electronic unit, it is most appropriate where the operator wants direct mechanical aiming from the pilothouse instead of remote keypad, joystick, or NMEA-based control.
