Overview
The TACO Marine V21-0205BKA20D is a black rigid vinyl rub rail in a 20 ft length with a 2-1/4 in x 1-3/8 in profile. It is a no-insert rub rail profile made for hull-side protection and a clean finished edge along the hull-to-deck joint on boats that need a strong rub rail without a separate flexible insert.
This profile is drilled and countersunk for #10 screws on 8 in centers, which helps with layout during replacement work and new installations. The rigid vinyl construction can be cut and drilled with standard woodworking tools, and heat is required when forming it around radiused sections of the hull.
Key features
- Black rigid vinyl rub rail with a 2-1/4 in height and 1-3/8 in width for a substantial protective profile.
- Supplied in a 20 ft length for rub rail replacement, refit work, or new boat construction.
- No-insert profile, keeping the exterior line simple and reducing the number of separate trim pieces.
- Drilled and countersunk for #10 screws on 8 in centers to support consistent fastening along the rail.
- Cuts and drills with standard woodworking tools, which helps during trimming, fitting, and hole alignment on the boat.
- Requires heat for radius forming, so bends around the bow and other curved areas should be planned before final fastening.
- Made in the USA and backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
Installation and fit
This rub rail is a practical choice for boats where the existing rail profile matches the 2-1/4 in x 1-3/8 in shape, especially on workboats, fishing boats, and larger recreational hulls that see regular dock contact. Before installation, the old rail profile, screw size, hole spacing, and available straight-run length should be checked against the boat.
The pre-drilled and countersunk pattern is set for #10 screws on 8 in centers. During refit work, existing holes may not always line up with the new rail, so the installer should plan for proper bedding, fair spacing, and secure fastening into sound backing material.
Use on board
Once installed, the rub rail helps protect the hull edge during docking, rafting, loading, and routine contact with pilings or fenders. The black finish gives the boat a clean contrast line and fits well on commercial hulls, center consoles, utility boats, and other vessels where function matters as much as appearance.
Because this is a rigid vinyl profile, curves should be approached carefully with heat and steady forming rather than forced bending. That makes it better suited to installers who can dry-fit the run, manage radiused sections, and finish the rail with proper marine fastening practices.
