Overview
The TACO Marine V21-1039BKA20D1 is a black rigid vinyl rub rail for protecting the hull-to-deck edge on boats that need a rub rail profile with room for a stainless steel insert. It is supplied in a 20 ft length and measures 2 in high by 1-3/16 in wide, giving the boat a substantial impact strip for docking contact, trailer handling, and everyday use around pilings and slips.
This profile is made from rigid vinyl and accepts the S11-4650 stainless steel insert, which is sold separately. The rail is drilled and countersunk for #8 fasteners on 12 in centers, which helps keep installation layout consistent along the sheer line or other rub rail run.
Key features
- Black rigid vinyl rub rail profile for hull edge protection and a clean finished look.
- 20 ft length suits replacement work and new installation on many fiberglass boats.
- 2 in high by 1-3/16 in wide profile gives good coverage along exposed hull and deck joints.
- Accepts S11-4650 stainless steel insert for a finished rub rail assembly with added scuff protection.
- Drilled and countersunk for #8 screws on 12 in centers to simplify fastening alignment.
- Useful for pleasure boats and commercial vessels where the rub rail sees regular dock contact.
Installation and fit
Check the existing rub rail profile before ordering, especially the height, width, insert style, and fastener spacing. A close match matters because rub rail shape affects how the rail sits against the hull, how the insert fits, and how well the finished line follows the boat's contours.
Rigid vinyl rub rail is commonly installed along straighter hull sections and moderate curves. Tighter radius areas may need careful fitting and controlled warming so the rail can follow the shape without forcing the profile out of line. Fasteners should be selected for the hull construction and the marine environment, with attention to sealing each hole to limit water intrusion.
Insert compatibility
This rub rail profile accepts the S11-4650 stainless steel insert. The insert is not part of the rub rail profile itself, so it should be ordered separately when a complete finished assembly is needed. Matching the insert to the rail is important because the insert shape and width control how securely it seats in the vinyl channel.
Use cases on board
This rail is a practical match for boat owners and yards replacing a worn rub rail, repairing impact-damaged sections, or refitting a boat that needs a black exterior trim line with stainless insert capability. It is most relevant on hull edges that see contact during docking, raft-ups, marina maneuvering, and trailer loading.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the rail with fresh water after saltwater use and clean it with mild boat soap rather than harsh solvents. During seasonal maintenance, inspect the fasteners, countersunk holes, and insert channel for movement or damage, especially near corners, boarding areas, and sections that contact docks most often.
