Overview
The Blue Sea Systems AC Rotary Source Selector Switch is a 2-pole AC selector for routing one of multiple 120/230V AC sources to a single output circuit on a boat. It is used where circuit protection is already handled elsewhere, such as on vessels with separate AC breakers, shore power inlets, a generator, or an inverter feed.
The range covers OFF plus 2-source and OFF plus 3-source configurations, with 30A and 65A maximum amperage options. All listed variants are 2-pole switches with one load circuit output and a maximum voltage rating of 600V AC, giving the installer a clear way to separate AC sources and avoid feeding the same circuit from two supplies at once.
Its compact panel-mount format fits electrical panels up to 0.16 in. or 4.00 mm thick, making it suitable for AC distribution panels, helm-adjacent electrical stations, and refit work where panel space is limited.
Key features
- 2-pole AC rotary switch for selecting between multiple 120/230V AC sources feeding one output circuit.
- OFF position gives a clear disconnect point before selecting shore power, generator, inverter, or another AC source.
- Available in 2-source and 3-source layouts, with 30A and 65A maximum amperage options.
- Rated for up to 600V AC, with one load circuit output across the listed variants.
- Mounts in panels up to 0.16 in. or 4.00 mm thick for use in compact marine AC panels.
- UL listed and built around a heavy-duty industrial rated switch for demanding onboard electrical use.
Variants
This AC rotary selector is offered in multiple configurations so the panel layout can match the number of AC sources on board and the amperage requirement of the circuit.
The source count and maximum amperage change by variant. The listed options share a 2-pole format, one load circuit output, support for 120/230V AC source selection, and a 600V AC maximum voltage rating.
- 9009: Source selection 2 sources, max amperage 30A. This version has OFF plus 2 positions for boats switching between two AC inputs feeding one circuit, with a compact 1.89 in. height, 1.89 in. width, and 1.91 in. depth.
- 9010: Source selection 3 sources, max amperage 30A. This version has OFF plus 3 positions for systems that need an additional AC source option while keeping the same 30A rating.
- 9011: Source selection 2 sources, max amperage 65A. This version keeps the OFF plus 2-position layout but raises the maximum amperage to 65A for higher-capacity AC source selection.
Installation and setup
This switch belongs in an AC system where the overcurrent protection is already installed elsewhere in the distribution layout. It should be wired as part of a properly protected marine AC panel so only one selected source can feed the output circuit at a time.
The rotary action gives the operator a simple, indexed control at the panel, which is helpful on boats where crew may need to change between dockside shore power, onboard generation, or inverter supply without working behind the panel.
Compatibility and fit
The selector is a practical match for boats with more than one AC source and a single output circuit that must be controlled from a panel. It suits cruising boats, fishing boats, and refit projects where source selection needs to be clear at the AC distribution point.
Before installation, match the selected variant to the number of AC sources and the circuit amperage. The 30A versions suit 30A AC source selection layouts, while the 65A version is the correct match within this range when a 65A selector is required.
