Overview
The Garmin 010-13009-06 is an external LTE antenna for a compatible OnDeck™ Hub, letting you put the LTE reception point in a location that gets better cellular signal than the hub’s mounting spot.
It is a practical add-on when the hub is installed below decks, inside a console, or in another area where structure, gear, and wiring can weaken cellular reception. With the antenna placed more openly, the OnDeck system has a better chance of staying connected for remote monitoring and alerts.
This is an LTE cellular antenna only. It is not a VHF, AIS, or Wi-Fi antenna, and it does not replace the OnDeck hub.
Key features
- External LTE antenna accessory for compatible OnDeckâ„¢ Hub systems
- Helps improve reception when the hub is mounted in enclosed or shielded compartments
- Allows more flexibility in rigging by separating antenna placement from hub mounting location
- Useful for boats that spend time at covered docks or inside buildings where cellular signal can be marginal
- Purpose-built for OnDeck installations where cellular connectivity is used for off-boat status and alarm notifications
Compatibility and fit
This antenna is intended for use with a compatible OnDeck™ Hub. It connects to the hub’s external cellular antenna connection, so confirm your OnDeck hub model supports an external LTE antenna before ordering.
If your boat has a lot of metal near the helm or a metal hull structure, antenna location can matter more. Keeping the antenna away from large metal surfaces and other antennas helps avoid performance headaches.
Installation and placement
Pick a mounting location with the clearest exposure to shore-based cellular coverage that your boat layout allows. On many installs that means higher up and away from dense wiring bundles, chargers, inverters, and other sources of electrical noise.
Route the antenna cable with chafe protection, keep bends gentle, and avoid pinching it under panels or hatches. If the cable passes into a console or cabin, leave a drip loop where practical so water does not track along the cable into the enclosure.
Use on board
This antenna is a good match for owners who rely on OnDeck while the boat is unattended at the dock, and for boats where the hub must be mounted in a protected location that is not friendly to cellular reception.
Maintenance and care
Periodically inspect the antenna, cable run, and hub connection for chafe, loosened fittings, or corrosion, especially on saltwater boats. During washdowns, a light rinse around the antenna and cable entry helps keep salt buildup from becoming a problem over time.
