Overview
The Jabsco 6056-0003-P is a nitrile replacement impeller kit for compatible Jabsco flexible impeller pumps that use an 8-blade rotor with a 2-9/16 in diameter, 2 in width, 5/8 in shaft size, and brass keyway insert. Its dimensions match the nitrile impeller used in Jabsco 6050-series pump service, so the material, hub style, and shaft size all need to match the pump you are repairing.
For a boat owner or technician, this is not a part to match by blade count alone. The 2 in width, ding drive keyway, and nitrile construction matter just as much as the outside diameter. Check the existing impeller or the pump data plate before ordering, especially if the pump can also take a neoprene version.
Key features
- 8-blade nitrile impeller sized at 2-9/16 in diameter and 2 in width
- 5/8 in ding drive keyway with brass insert for the correct hub fit on matching pumps
- Matches the nitrile impeller geometry used in Jabsco 6050-series pump service
- Material matters as much as size when replacing a flexible impeller, and this version is nitrile rather than neoprene
- Fit should be checked by diameter, width, shaft and keyway size, and hub style, not by blade count alone
Compatibility and fit
This impeller is a practical match when you are servicing a pump that already calls for the 6056-0003 nitrile geometry. The key buying checks are simple: 2-9/16 in diameter, 2 in width, 5/8 in shaft size, brass insert, and a ding drive keyway. If one of those points is off, the impeller may not fit the bore or seat on the shaft as it should.
On boats, that matters most when the pump is buried in a locker, engine space, or machinery area where you do not want to open it twice. Matching the old impeller before you start saves time and reduces the chance of turning a routine service job into a second teardown.
Installation and service
Remove the end cover and pull the old impeller from the hub instead of prying against the pump body. Greasing the new impeller before startup helps it slide into the bore and gives it some protection during initial priming. On the matching 6050 pump setup, the standard gasket thickness is 0.010 in, and dry running should be kept under 30 seconds.
This is a sensible spare to keep aboard when a compatible flexible impeller pump is part of a transfer or utility system. Flexible impellers are wear items, and replacing them on schedule is usually easier than dealing with a pump that stops moving water when you need it.
