Overview
The Garmin 010-12525-01 is a neoprene flotation lanyard that keeps a compatible inReach or handheld GPS attached to you and helps it stay afloat if it goes overboard. A quick-release connector lets you detach the device without undoing your tether point. The high-visibility orange float is easy to spot when it is bobbing alongside the boat.
This is a practical add-on for kayak and dinghy runs, fishing from the rail, or any time your handheld lives on a PFD or foul-weather jacket. It adds little bulk at about 45 g (1.6 oz) and keeps the unit close enough to grab with one hand.

Compatibility and fit
It is commonly used with Garmin inReach handhelds such as inReach Mini and inReach Explorer+ and SE+, along with many Garmin handheld GPS families including GPSMAP, eTrex, Oregon, and Montana. Fit depends on your device having a secure attachment point for the connector.
Some older handhelds do not fit this lanyard system, including eTrex Legend, eTrex Vista, eTrex Summit, and the GPSMAP 60 series. The Montana 700 series is also not supported.
On-board setup
Connect the lanyard to the device attachment point, then secure the other end to your PFD, belt loop, or a short tether inside a deck bag so it cannot slip out if you capsize. Use the quick-release when handing the device to a crewmate or when you need it free for clear sky view.
Care after saltwater use
After salt spray or a dunk, rinse with fresh water and let it dry fully before stowing. Check the connector for grit and make sure the attachment point on your device is not worn or cracked.
