Overview
The MotorGuide 8M0095972 is a universal quick-release mounting bracket that lets you remove and reinstall a MotorGuide trolling motor without unbolting the mount from the deck.
The two-plate system locks with a cam handle and a sliding wedge fit, and the base can shift the motor up to 5-3/4 in. inboard for extra clearance when launching or loading.
With anodized aluminum plates and stainless mounting hardware, it holds up better around salt spray and routine washdowns.
Key features
- Quick-release two-plate bracket with a cam-lock handle for fast removal and reattachment.
- Works with MotorGuide cable-steer and electric-steer trolling motors.
- Slide base repositions the motor up to 5-3/4 in. inboard for clearance at the ramp, dock, or trailer.
- Anodized aluminum construction with stainless hardware to resist corrosion.
- Handle can be secured with the included clip or a padlock (padlock sold separately).
- Extra top plates are available separately for swapping between multiple motors.
Installation and setup
Use the bottom plate as a template, then drill four 17/64 in. holes and through-bolt the base to the deck with the supplied 1/4-20 x 3 in. hardware. Rubber washers sit between the plate and the deck, with flat washers and nylock nuts underneath.
Attach your trolling motor mount bracket to the top plate using the provided 1/4-20 screws. Two screw lengths are included so you can match the thickness of your motor mount and still get full thread engagement without the fasteners poking through the plate.
To attach the motor, leave the handle open, set the top plate onto the base, slide it toward port until the wedges engage, then close the handle. For removal, open the handle, slide toward starboard, and lift the motor straight up.
Compatibility and fit
This setup works best when you can reach the underside of the mounting area to install washers and nylock nuts. Before drilling, confirm the bracket has room to slide and that the motor clears the rub rail and bow hardware in the stowed position.
It suits anglers who take the trolling motor off the boat for storage or security, and anyone who wants the option to move between MotorGuide cable-steer and electric-steer setups.
