Overview
The Attwood Marine Low-Permeation Fuel Line Kit is a universal fuel line assembly for connecting portable marine fuel tanks to outboard engines across a range of boat setups. The range covers 6 ft and 12 ft hose lengths, with 5/16 in. and 3/8 in. diameter options, so the buyer can match the kit to the routing distance and fuel system size already on board.
Each configuration is built around low-permeation fuel hose and a multi-layer low-permeation primer bulb for hand priming after tank changes, service, or storage. The hose is fiber reinforced, compatible with ethanol-blended fuels, and rated up to 100 degrees C, which matters in outboard wells, splash areas, and tight stern compartments where fuel lines deal with heat, movement, and regular handling.
Depending on the selected variant, the kit may come without fittings, with the USC tank-end set, or with a fuel demand valve. That makes this product line useful for replacing a worn fuel hose assembly, setting up a portable tank, or updating a small-boat fuel connection without buying more hardware than the installation requires.
Key features
- Universal fuel line kit range for portable marine tanks and outboard engine fuel connections.
- Available in 6 ft and 12 ft lengths for short transom runs or longer tank placements under seats, in lockers, or forward of the motor.
- 5/16 in. and 3/8 in. hose diameter options let the installation match the existing engine and fuel system requirements.
- Low-permeation, fiber-reinforced hose helps resist kinking and hardening when used with ethanol-blended fuels.
- Multi-layer low-permeation primer bulb supports normal hand priming after connecting the tank or servicing the fuel system.
- Configurations are available with no included fittings, with the USC tank-end set, and with or without a fuel demand valve.
Variants
The range varies by hose length, hose diameter, and included tank-end components. Length options include 6 ft and 12 ft, while hose diameter options include 5/16 in. and 3/8 in. The included component options cover no included fittings, the USC tank-end set with 8838TM6 and 8838HF6, and versions with or without an FDV.
The FDV versions add a fuel demand valve to the assembly. The USC versions include the Universal Sprayless Connector tank-end hardware for the tank side of the connection. For a clean fit, match the hose diameter, length, and tank-end component choice to the fuel tank, engine, and routing path used on the boat.
Compatibility and fit
Use the hose diameter that matches the engine and fuel system already in place. The 6 ft kits suit portable tanks positioned close to the outboard, while the 12 ft kits give more routing room when the tank sits forward, under a seat, or farther from the transom.
These kits make sense for trailer boats, skiffs, inflatables, pontoons, and small cruisers that run portable fuel tanks. For installations where the tank and fuel system call for a fuel demand valve, select one of the FDV configurations rather than adding that component separately later.
Installation and use
Route the fuel line away from sharp edges, battery terminals, hot engine surfaces, and deck areas where gear can pinch the hose. Keep bends broad so the hose and primer bulb are not crushed, and place the bulb where it can be reached by hand with the fuel flow direction toward the engine.
After connecting the tank and engine ends, prime the line and check all connections before running the motor. Turn the steering fully each way and tilt the outboard through its normal range to confirm the hose has enough slack and does not pull tight.
Maintenance and care
Inspect the hose, primer bulb, fittings, and valve during routine fuel system checks, especially after storage or long sun exposure. Replace the assembly if the hose shows cracking, feels brittle, leaks, or if the primer bulb no longer firms up when primed.
