Overview
The Jabsco Profile K Flexible Impeller is a Size 040, Drive Type 6 flexible pump impeller for compatible marine bronze flexible-impeller pumps. It has 12 blades, a 2-1/4 in. (57 mm) diameter, and a 1-1/4 in. (31.8 mm) depth, giving the installer clear fit points to compare against the pump data sheet or the impeller being replaced.
This listing covers two material options for the same Profile K format: neoprene and nitrile. Neoprene suits engine cooling and fresh or salt water transfer where only small traces of oil or diesel may be present, while nitrile is the better match for bilge or transfer water that may carry heavier oil or diesel contamination.
Key features
- Profile K impeller in Size 040 with Drive Type 6, matching pumps specified for this profile, size, and drive combination.
- 12-blade flexible impeller with a 2-1/4 in. (57 mm) diameter and 1-1/4 in. (31.8 mm) depth for fit checks before installation.
- Available in neoprene for engine cooling and fresh or salt water transfer, or nitrile for bilge and transfer water with oil or diesel contamination.
- Brass insert helps maintain drive engagement with the pump shaft.
- Useful as scheduled pump maintenance stock on cruising boats, fishing boats, and workboats where a failed impeller can stop cooling or transfer service.
Variants
This product is offered in two material configurations for the same Profile K, Size 040, Drive Type 6 impeller format.
The material is the key difference between the variants. The profile, size, drive type, 12-blade layout, 2-1/4 in. diameter, 1-1/4 in. depth, and brass insert remain consistent.
- 5929-0001: Neoprene. This material is used for engine cooling and clean fresh or salt water transfer on compatible pumps.
- 5929-0003: Nitrile. This material is used for bilge and transfer duties where the pumped water may contain heavier oil or diesel contamination.
Installation and fit
Match the old impeller by pump model, Profile K shape, Size 040, Drive Type 6, blade count, diameter, depth, and insert style before installation. A flexible impeller should slide into a clean pump body with the blades bent in the correct rotation direction, using the pump maker's service procedure.
Before the pump is run, the impeller should be wetted or lubricated with the correct impeller lubricant and the suction line should be primed. Running a flexible impeller dry can damage the vanes quickly, so this is a practical spare to keep aboard for annual service or unexpected pump work.
Use cases on board
For cruisers and fishing boats, the neoprene version is the common material for raw-water cooling and general water transfer. The nitrile version suits bilge service or transfer work where oil or diesel residue may be in the water, as long as the pump and system are compatible with that duty.
