Overview
The Attwood Marine 6100-AT-7 is a white powered fold-down antenna base that lets you raise or lower a compatible VHF antenna from the helm instead of folding it by hand at the hardtop. It fits most single-mount point antennas up to 8 ft in length and uses industry-standard 1"-14 threading, which is the common format on many marine VHF antenna installations.
This base works well on boats that need quick antenna clearance for bridges, dry-stack storage, covered lifts, or trailering. Object-detection functions help stop a bad deployment before it turns into damage at the antenna or hardtop, and the mounting footprint and wiring path follow common fold-down layouts, which helps when replacing an existing base or planning a new install.
Key features
- Powered stow and deploy from the helm instead of climbing up to the antenna base
- Fits most single-mount point VHF antennas up to 8 ft with industry-standard 1"-14 threading
- SafeGuard Breakaway helps the attached unit give under impact to limit damage at the antenna, base, and hardtop
- SmartDeploy Backdrive senses a blocked movement and reverses to the starting position
- Standardized mounting footprints and wiring paths help when replacing a manual fold-down base
- 180° range of motion lets the base fold toward the bow or stern to suit clearance around the hardtop
- Manual override gives you a way to move the antenna if powered operation is unavailable
Compatibility and fit
Check the antenna first: it should use a single mounting point, a 1"-14 thread, and stay at 8 ft or less. The 180° movement gives the installer flexibility to set the fold direction toward the bow or stern, which helps around radar, rod holders, and other overhead gear.
This setup is a practical match for center consoles, pilot houses, and other boats where the antenna sits high and needs to be lowered without leaving the helm. It also suits owners changing from a manual fold-down base who want to keep a familiar mounting style while adding powered movement.
Installation and setup
Installation calls for basic drilling, sealing, and switch planning. The guide lists 7/32 in and 3/4 in drill bits, a #2 Phillips driver, marine grade sealant, PTFE lubricant, and a 2-position SPST switch with LED backlight. Through-hole mounting also uses two 1-1/4 in fender washers and 10-24 nuts.
Those installation items are not included, so it helps to confirm switch location, cable routing, and backing hardware before cutting the mounting surface. For boats already set up with a common fold-down footprint, the changeover is usually more straightforward because the mounting pattern and wiring path follow industry-standard layouts.
