Overview
The Hella Marine 358111741 is an MST6E mini LED lighthead that flashes amber and white warning light on 12/24 VDC systems. It includes 21 selectable flash patterns, including steady on, so you can match the signal to the situation on board.
On a boat, this type of light is commonly used as an auxiliary attention light for dockside work, deck operations at night, towing and service tasks, or marking a temporary work zone where you want the crew and nearby traffic to notice you quickly.
This is a warning lighthead and it is not a replacement for required red, green, and white navigation lights.
Key features
- Multi-voltage input for 12/24 VDC electrical systems
- Amber and white output from a single lighthead
- 21 user-selectable flash patterns, including steady on
- Self-adhesive backing for quick, simple surface mounting on a properly prepared substrate
- Frosted lens that spreads the light for broad visibility
- Non-volatile memory that retains the last selected pattern
- Multiple units can be grouped to flash together
- Weatherproof and vibration-resistant build for exposed mounting locations
- SAE J595 Class 1 approval
Installation and setup
Choose a location where the light is visible but does not reflect into the helm at night, such as a hardtop face, radar arch, transom panel, or a service area on a work platform. Because the lighthead uses a self-adhesive backing, surface prep matters: clean, degrease, and dry the mounting area, then press firmly and allow time for the bond to set before heavy washdowns or sustained spray.
Electrical and system integration
Connect the lighthead to a switched DC feed on your 12V or 24V distribution and protect the circuit with a fuse or breaker sized for the wiring run. When installing multiple lightheads, route and secure the wiring so it is strain-relieved and supported, and plan the layout so grouped units remain visible from the angles you care about around the dock or on deck.
Use cases on board
This lighthead is a good fit for commercial and service-style use on workboats, tenders, and utility craft, as well as for recreational owners who want an auxiliary warning signal for nighttime maintenance or busy marina conditions. It also suits mixed fleets where both 12V and 24V boats need the same style of warning light without changing hardware.
