Overview
The Garmin 010-11482-01 is a power/data/sonar cable with a threaded 19-pin connector for GPSMAP 720, 720s, 740, and 740s chartplotters. It combines the main connections in one run so your chartplotter can be powered and tied into onboard data and sonar wiring without separate adapters at the back of the unit.
The threaded collar is useful at a helm where vibration and repeated access are normal. Once it is seated and tightened, the connector stays put and helps reduce the chance of an intermittent connection from a plug that works loose over time.
Key features
- Threaded 19-pin connector that locks in at the chartplotter for a secure fit
- Single harness for power, data, and sonar connections to keep the back of the display cleaner
- Listed compatibility with GPSMAP 720, GPSMAP 720s, GPSMAP 740, and GPSMAP 740s
- Good option when replacing a damaged harness or reworking a helm and needing a fresh cable run
Compatibility and fit
Match the connector style at the rear of your chartplotter before ordering. This cable is for Garmin units that use the threaded 19-pin port shown on GPSMAP 720, 720s, 740, and 740s models.
Sonar wiring is only relevant when the connected system and transducer setup uses the sonar portion of the harness. If your installation does not use sonar through the chartplotter, the cable can still serve as the main power and data connection.
Installation and routing
Plan the cable path so the connector end reaches the back of the display without sharp bends or tension. Leave enough slack to remove the unit from a bracket or access the rear connectors later, and support the run so the weight of the cable is not hanging from the plug.
Route the cable away from high-noise sources such as ignition wiring, alternators, and high-current inverter feeds when possible. At the console, keep the connection area dry and protected, and recheck the threaded collar after the first few trips if the boat sees frequent pounding.
Use on board
This cable is a good match for boats rigging a GPSMAP 720 or 740 series display at the helm and wanting one harness that covers the core connections. It also fits refits where an older cable has been cut, pinched in a steering chase, or has corrosion at the connector that causes dropouts.
Maintenance and care
Inspect the connector and collar during seasonal checks, especially if the display is mounted where spray or washdowns are common. Keep the connector clean, avoid forcing the pins during installation, and make sure the collar threads smoothly so it can be tightened fully without cross-threading.
