Overview
The Vimar VMV71704 is a 4-module flush-mount box for hollow walls that clamps into thin panels and supports up to four modular electrical fittings. The box body measures 133.8 mm x 72.5 mm with 50 mm internal depth, and the wall cutout is prepared with a 68 mm hole cutter.
It is made from halogen-free plastic with a glow-wire rating of 850 C and an IP00 protection rating, so it belongs behind a finished plate and in protected interior locations. Break-out feed-through openings are provided around the sides and rear, with retention knockouts shaped for conduit in 16 mm, 20 mm, or 25 mm sizes and a total of 14 possible inlets.

Compatibility and fit
This box is intended for hollow constructions such as plasterboard, wood, and laminate-type panels, which is common when fitting switches and sockets into interior liners, bulkheads, and furniture faces. Confirm your front-end hardware is built around Vimar 4-module frames and the matching cover plates for the finish you want.
The enclosure is not sealed and does not provide spray protection on its own, so it should be kept away from exposed cockpit and deck areas unless it sits inside a separate protected housing.
Installation and setup
Cut the opening with a 68 mm hole saw, feed cables or conduit through the chosen break-outs, and slide the box into the panel. Tightening the clamps pulls the metal fins against the back of the wall to lock the box in place across a wide range of panel thicknesses.
Device mounting screws land on metal lugs inside the box. A matching 4-module flat cover is available for closing the opening during build-out (V71634).
Use on board
This box fits clean electrical refits where you are adding Vimar modular switches or outlets to cabins, salons, or helm-side interior panels and want a serviceable backbox with multiple entry points. It also helps when you are routing conduit behind liners and need a box that accepts 16 mm, 20 mm, or 25 mm conduit without forcing oversized openings.
