Overview
The Hella Marine Navigation Lamp Bulbs is a range of clear incandescent replacement bulbs with a BAY15d double-contact, indexed bayonet base, offered in 12V DC and 24V DC with 10/12W or 25/30W ratings.
They are meant for navigation light fixtures that use the BAY15d format (15 mm base with offset pins), where the bulb needs to lock in with the correct orientation and make two contacts. Match voltage and wattage to what is printed on your light or listed for the fixture to keep the beam and heat level in line with how the lamp was built.
Key features
- BAY15d base with double contacts and indexed, offset pins for the correct fit in compatible holders
- Offered for 12V DC and 24V DC electrical systems to match common onboard setups
- Two wattage classes available (10/12W and 25/30W) to match what your navigation light specifies
- Clear incandescent bulb format for use behind colored navigation lenses and clear lenses where applicable
- Useful as a direct replacement and as an onboard spare for boats that still run incandescent navigation lights
Variants
This product is offered in multiple voltage and wattage configurations.
Voltage (12V DC or 24V DC) and wattage (10/12W or 25/30W) vary by part number. The BAY15d base format remains the same across the range.
- 003488121: Voltage 12V DC, 10/12W. Used where a 12V system and a 10W or 12W BAY15d navigation bulb is specified on the fixture.
- 003488301: Voltage 12V DC, 25/30W. Used where the fixture calls for a higher-wattage 12V BAY15d bulb and the housing is rated for that load.
- 003488131: Voltage 24V DC, 10/12W. Used on 24V vessels where the light specifies a 10W or 12W BAY15d navigation bulb.
- 003488311: Voltage 24V DC, 25/30W. Used where a 24V fixture specifies a 25W or 30W BAY15d bulb and heat and current draw are within the lamp rating.
Compatibility and fit
These bulbs fit fixtures that take a BAY15d double-contact bayonet base with offset pins. BAY15d is not the same as BA15s or other bayonet bases, so confirm the base marking on the holder or match the pin layout before ordering. They are commonly used in Hella Marine navigation lamps and in the 8504 Halogen Series masthead/floodlight combination light where a BAY15d navigation bulb is specified.
Installation and setup
Switch off power at the breaker, let the lens and lamp cool, then open the light to access the bulb holder. Align the offset pins, push in, and twist to lock. Re-seat the seal or gasket and close the lens fully so the housing stays weather tight.
Electrical and system notes
Match the bulb voltage to your boat system (12V DC or 24V DC). The 25/30W options draw more current and run hotter than the 10/12W options, so confirm your light assembly is rated for the wattage marked on the fixture.
Good match for
Boaters keeping incandescent navigation lights running and wanting a BAY15d replacement with the correct voltage and wattage. It also makes sense to carry spares onboard if you rely on masthead, stern, or sidelights after dark.
