Overview
The Vimar VMV71701 is a round flush-mount box in light blue for fitting Vimar modular devices into hollow wall panels on board. It installs into a 68 mm cutout and supports a two-device arrangement while keeping wiring tucked behind the wall surface.
The body measures about 71.5 mm across with about 50 mm of internal depth, and it uses metal fins to clamp onto panels from 1 to 38 mm thick. Breakout entries are set up for 16 mm, 20 mm, or 25 mm conduit, and a centring plate on the rear helps keep the hole saw lined up when you are working on cabin liners, bulkheads, or console faces.
Key features
- 68 mm hole-saw cutout size for standard round hollow-wall installs
- Metal fins secure the box on wall thicknesses from 1 to 38 mm
- Breakout conduit entries for 16 mm, 20 mm, and 25 mm runs
- About 50 mm internal depth behind the panel for terminations
- Eight entry points to route cable or conduit from the most practical direction
- Metal lugs for the support screws that hold the mounting frame
- Halogen-free plastic with a glow-wire rating of 850 C
- IP00 and not sealable, so it belongs in protected interior spaces unless the front device assembly provides the needed sealing
Installation and setup
Cut a clean 68 mm opening, feed wiring or conduit through the chosen knockouts, and seat the box until the front lip sits flush. Tighten the metal fins evenly so they bite behind the panel without distorting thin liners. Once the box is fixed, the mounting frame can be secured using the metal lugs, then the devices and cover plate are fitted from the front.
Compatibility and fit
This box is intended for Vimar supports that mount without claw clips and rely on screw fixing instead. It is used when you need a recessed mounting point in a hollow wall and want a neat finish that keeps the device aligned and stable.
Use cases on board
It is commonly used for interior switching and outlets in cabins, saloons, nav stations, and helm consoles where the structure is a hollow panel rather than solid timber. It also suits refits where you are standardizing on Vimar modular devices and want consistent mounting depth and cutout sizing across multiple stations.
