Overview

The Vimar 09976 is a 3-module surface mounting box with a 30 mm depth for installing compatible Eikon, Idea, and Plana devices where you cannot recess a box into the bulkhead.

It measures 84.00 mm long by 121.50 mm wide by 30.00 mm deep, has a rear entry, and provides four inlets for 20/25 mm conduit so wiring can be brought in neatly from behind or through a chase.

This is an IP20 box meant for dry interior spaces, and the cover is secured with screws to help keep wiring protected from vibration and casual contact.

Variants

This surface box is offered in two color options to match common Vimar plate finishes.

Both variants are 3-module, 30 mm deep surface mounting boxes; the difference between them is the box color.

• VM09976.04 - Color: White. A finish that blends in on light-colored interior panels and trim.
• VM09976.14 - Color: Grey. A darker finish that stays less noticeable on technical panels and darker liners.

Compatibility and fit

This box is built around a 3-module device layout. For a complete assembly you will also need the correct 3-module mounting frame and the matching cover plate for the device family being installed.

For Idea installations, it is intended for Classica cover plates. For Eikon installations, it is intended for Eikon Chrome cover plates. Confirm plate style and module count before ordering parts for the set.

Installation and setup

Mount the box to a flat wall or ceiling surface where the fasteners can bite into solid backing. Plan cable routing so the rear entry lines up with your wiring chase, or use the conduit inlets to keep conductors supported and protected.

Allow clearance for the 30 mm box depth and for the front device assembly. On a boat, place the box where it will not see direct spray, washdowns, or persistent dripping.

Use on board

This box suits refits and new builds that need surface-mounted switching or outlets at the nav station, in cabins, inside lockers, or in other protected areas where cutting a recess is not practical.
