Overview
The Attwood Marine 13710-4 is an anchor lift system for smaller anchoring setups that gives you a fixed reel-and-guide arrangement for dropping, retrieving, and stowing the anchor from the boat. It is rated for anchors up to 12 lb and the reel is sized for up to 100 ft of 3/16 in. anchor rope.
It mounts at the bow or stern corner on many boats and keeps the anchor secured in the mount housing when it is not in use. Heavy-gauge steel parts with a powder-coated finish help it stand up to regular exposure around the rail and deck edge, while the manual release knob and lift handle keep operation straightforward.
Key features
- Rated for anchors up to 12 lb
- Rope reel capacity of up to 100 ft of 3/16 in. anchor rope
- Manual release knob drops the anchor and lift handle retrieves it
- Anchor stores in the mount housing when not in use
- Mounting layout suits bow or stern corner installation on many boats
- Heavy-gauge steel construction with a powder-coated finish
- Boat-specific mounting hardware is not included
Installation and setup
This system needs a mounting area with enough support for the load and enough clearance for the reel and rope to run freely. On boats with a deck or without an opening in the bow plate, a 3/4 in. clearance hole may be needed below the rear roller so the rope can pass cleanly.
The instructions call for 1/4 in. bolts or screws chosen for the boat's construction, and some installations may also need rope guides or swivel pulleys to keep the line clear of obstructions and reduce chafe. The system uses 3/16 in. anchor rope, and the routing matters as much as the mounting position.
Fit and onboard use
This setup makes the most sense on boats running a lighter anchor where a bow or stern corner mount is practical and where keeping the deck edge clear matters. The enclosed stowage point helps keep the working area tidier than a loose anchor and line left on deck.
For day boats and other smaller craft, it gives you a mechanical anchoring setup without adding electrical wiring or switch gear. When running at higher speed, in rough water, or during trailering, the anchor should be moved inside the boat rather than left on the lift.
Care and maintenance
The unit comes lubricated and should be re-lubricated periodically to keep the reel and guide moving freely. After use in salt or brackish water, a fresh-water rinse helps clear residue, and the reel and guide benefit from waterproof grease and light oil in the service points called out for routine care.
