Overview
The Garmin 010-10553-00 is a replacement power cable for the GMS 10 Network Port Expander. It connects the expander to your boat’s 10 to 35 VDC supply so the Garmin Marine Network can stay powered and share data between chartplotters and networked sensors.
The cable plugs into the expander’s 7-pin power connector and terminates in bare leads for your DC distribution. The red lead goes to positive (+) and the black lead goes to negative (-). An in-line AGC/3AG 2.0 amp fuse is fitted on the positive lead and should remain in place.
Key features
- Replacement power lead for the GMS 10 Network Port Expander
- 7-pin connector at the unit end for a secure fit at the expander
- For 10 to 35 VDC boat electrical systems
- Red (+) and black (-) leads for connection to a battery, fuse block, or DC bus
- In-line AGC/3AG 2.0 amp fuse on the positive lead
- Helpful as a spare for troubleshooting or for re-wiring during refits
Compatibility and fit
This cable is intended for the Garmin GMS 10 Network Port Expander that uses a 7-pin power connector. If you mount more than one expander, each unit is powered through its own power connection at the mounting location.
Installation and wiring
Route the cable from the expander to your DC distribution panel with strain relief at both ends and support it so it cannot chafe on sharp edges or vibrate against hardware. Keep the in-line fuse accessible for service, and use marine-grade crimp terminals and heat-shrink where the cable lands on your fuse block or battery switch.
On-board use notes
This is a good match for boats adding a GMS 10 to expand Garmin Marine Network ports at the helm, in an electronics locker, or near connected modules where shorter network runs keep installs tidy. A clean DC feed and solid ground help avoid intermittent dropouts that can show up as network devices disappearing on the display.
Maintenance and care
Periodically check the fuse holder for corrosion, verify the fuse value, and inspect the cable run for abrasion where it passes through bulkheads. If the expander loses power, the fuse and the DC terminations are the quickest places to verify first.
