Overview
The Hella Marine 995002001 is a 2 NM all-round white navigation light with a fixed 4 inch pedestal and black housing for 12V DC systems.
It throws light through a full 360 degree arc, so it works well as a dedicated all-round light and can also serve as an anchor light when mounted with an unobstructed view. The lamp uses a 12V/10W festoon bulb (SV 8.5-8 base) and meets IMO COLREG 1972 and USCG requirements, with ABYC A-16 and RINA (I) compliance noted as well.
Key features
- All-round white 360 degree visibility rated to 2 nautical miles
- 12V DC operation with a 10W festoon bulb included (SV 8.5-8 base)
- Fixed pedestal mount with a 4 inch height
- Meets IMO COLREG 1972 and USCG requirements; also complies with ABYC A-16 and RINA (I)
- Suitable for use as a navigation light or anchor light when installed with a clear 360 degree view
- Black housing that blends in cleanly on dark rails, arches, and hardtops
Compatibility and fit
This light is for 12V DC boats. It is a good match for sail and power vessels where a 2 NM all-round white light is the correct requirement, and it can be used as an anchor light on vessels up to 65.6 ft when mounted correctly and kept clear of obstructions.
Before ordering, confirm you have a mounting spot high enough to keep the lens above nearby antennas, bimini frames, and radar gear so the 360 degree arc is not shadowed.
Installation and wiring
Mount the base where it will be rigid and protected from being bumped while still giving the lens a clear view around the boat. Plan the wire route before fastening the pedestal so the cable can be secured and supported inside the structure or under the mounting surface.
Use marine-grade tinned wire and watertight connections, then seal the mounting holes to keep water out of the core and backing structure. After installation, verify the light is level and visible from all directions at night.
On-board use
Common mounting locations include a radar arch, hardtop, flybridge, or a dedicated stern pole where the light can sit above deck clutter. This is a straightforward option for replacing an older all-round/anchor light that uses a 12V festoon bulb and a small fixed pedestal footprint.
Maintenance and bulb replacement
Rinse salt buildup and wipe the lens so the light output stays clean and even. If the lamp stops working, check the circuit first, then replace the 12V/10W festoon bulb with the SV 8.5-8 base type and confirm the contacts are seated properly.
Periodically inspect the wiring support and the seal around the mounting area, especially after heavy washdowns or a season of vibration.
