Overview
The TACO Marine A11-0638TAL12D is a clear anodized aluminum rub rail base for protecting the hull-to-deck joint on many 16 to 24 ft boats. It measures 12 ft long, with a 1-1/2 in height and 5/8 in width, giving runabouts, center consoles, cuddy cabins, and small cruisers a clean metal rub rail profile for dockside contact and everyday handling.
This rail accepts a flexible vinyl insert, with TACO Marine V12-0338 commonly used as the matching insert and sold separately. The aluminum profile is drilled and countersunk for #8 fasteners on 6 in centers, which helps keep installation consistent along the sheer line when replacing worn rub rail or refitting a damaged section.
Key features
12 ft clear anodized aluminum rub rail base for hull-side protection and a finished edge at the hull-to-deck joint.
1-1/2 in height and 5/8 in width suit many small to mid-size powerboats in the 16 to 24 ft range.
Accepts a flexible vinyl insert, so impact contact is handled by a replaceable insert rather than the aluminum base alone.
Drilled and countersunk for #8 screws on 6 in centers to support even fastening along the rail.
Anodized finish helps the aluminum stand up to saltwater exposure, spray, and regular washdowns.
Flexible aluminum profile can follow curved boat sides during installation when handled with proper support and alignment.
Installation and fit
This rub rail is a practical match for repair work, restoration projects, and rub rail replacement where the existing profile and boat size line up with the 1-1/2 in by 5/8 in section. Before ordering, compare the rail height, width, fastener spacing, and insert style against the rail already on the boat or the rub rail specification for the hull.
The insert and mounting fasteners are not built into the rail, so they should be planned as part of the job. Dry-fitting the rail before final fastening helps confirm the bend, hole alignment, and transition around the bow and stern corners.
Use on board
Once installed, the rail helps protect the boat during docking, trailering, rafting up, and close-quarters movement around pilings or other boats. It is a good fit for owners replacing a tired aluminum rub rail base while keeping a traditional polished metal look with a separate vinyl insert for contact protection.

Eligible unfulfilled items may also be submitted for cancellation within 1 hour of placing the order. Returns or cancellations are not considered approved until you receive confirmation from Apollo Lighting. Please do not ship or drop off merchandise before receiving return approval and instructions.
Customers are responsible for arranging and paying for return shipping unless the return is due to an error by Apollo Lighting or the item is verified as defective, damaged, or incorrect. Missing, damaged, defective, or incorrect items must be reported within 2 business days of delivery, and photos or other documentation may be required for review. After your return is received and inspected, approved refunds are issued to the original payment method and may take 5-7 business days to appear after processing. Original shipping and handling charges are nonrefundable, and the value of any included free items that are not returned may be deducted from the refund. Apollo Lighting does not charge a standard restocking fee on eligible returns. Returns that are incomplete, damaged, installed, used, altered, improperly packaged, or otherwise do not meet the eligibility requirements may be refused. Product warranty
Product warranty
Many products sold by Apollo Lighting include a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Warranty terms vary by brand, product category, and model, so eligibility, coverage duration, exclusions, and available remedies are determined by the applicable manufacturer. We recommend reviewing the warranty information provided with your product before installation or use, especially for marine electronics, navigation equipment, lighting, electrical systems, pumps, safety equipment, and other specialized marine products.
If you need warranty service, the claim must follow the process established by the manufacturer, authorized service center, or designated warranty provider. You may be asked for proof of purchase, a serial number, product registration, photos, maintenance or installation records, or other documentation. Apollo Lighting does not determine or modify a manufacturer's warranty coverage or final claim decision, but we are happy to help provide purchase information and direct you to the appropriate manufacturer or warranty resource.
Keep your receipt, product documentation, serial number information, and original packaging when practical. Damage caused by normal wear, misuse, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, corrosion, impact, unauthorized modifications, electrical issues, or operation outside the manufacturer's specifications may not be covered. Warranty claims are separate from standard returns, so a product that has been installed, used, or exposed to marine conditions may no longer qualify for return while still remaining eligible for evaluation under the manufacturer's applicable warranty.
