Description

Overview

The TACO Marine A12-0303BLY12D is a brite anodized aluminum rub rail for protecting the hull and deck joint on powerboats, especially in the 16 to 24 foot range. It measures 7/8 inch wide by 1-5/16 inches high and is sold in a 12 foot length, giving boat owners and yards a rigid replacement profile for refits, repairs, and restoration work.

This rub rail is made for boats that need a classic aluminum edge with a clean polished look and a finish that can handle normal marine exposure. The profile is drilled and countersunk for #10 screws on 6 inch centers, which helps keep fastener spacing consistent during installation along the sheer line or hull-deck seam.

The rail accepts the TACO V12-0303 flexible vinyl insert, which is sold separately. That insert covers the fastener line and adds a replaceable outer contact surface, useful on boats that see dock contact, rafting, trailer loading, or regular use around pilings and slips.

Key features
  • Brite anodized aluminum profile for a polished look with added protection in a marine environment.

  • 7/8 inch width, 1-5/16 inch height, and 12 foot length for matching the original rub rail profile on many powerboat applications.

  • Drilled and countersunk for #10 screws on 6 inch centers to support a clean, repeatable installation.

  • Accepts TACO V12-0303 flexible vinyl insert, sold separately, to cover the fasteners and complete the rub rail assembly.

  • Aluminum profile can be bent and formed around tight radius areas during installation.

  • Suitable for rub rail replacement work on many 16 to 24 foot boats where this profile matches the existing hull edge.

Installation and fit

Before ordering, match the rail height, width, insert style, and fastener pattern against the existing rub rail or the boat builder’s original profile. The 12 foot rigid length is useful for long, straight runs, while the bendable aluminum profile helps the installer work around corners and bow sections when fitted carefully.

Fasteners and the vinyl insert should be selected to suit the boat’s hull material and the final installation plan. Because the rail is pre-drilled and countersunk, alignment matters: dry fitting the rail before final fastening helps keep the profile straight and reduces the chance of fighting the hole spacing at the ends of each run.

Use cases on board

This rub rail is a practical match for refitting older runabouts, fishing boats, cruisers, and other small to mid-size powerboats where the hull edge needs a more finished look and better protection from everyday dock contact. It is also useful when the existing aluminum rail is dented, oxidized, missing sections, or no longer holds the insert properly.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the rail with fresh water after saltwater use and clean it with mild boat soap rather than harsh abrasives. During seasonal checks, inspect the fasteners and the vinyl insert so loose sections can be corrected before they damage the rail, the hull edge, or the surrounding finish.

Product warranty

Many products sold by Apollo Lighting include a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Warranty terms vary by brand, product category, and model, so eligibility, coverage duration, exclusions, and available remedies are determined by the applicable manufacturer. We recommend reviewing the warranty information provided with your product before installation or use, especially for marine electronics, navigation equipment, lighting, electrical systems, pumps, safety equipment, and other specialized marine products.

If you need warranty service, the claim must follow the process established by the manufacturer, authorized service center, or designated warranty provider. You may be asked for proof of purchase, a serial number, product registration, photos, maintenance or installation records, or other documentation. Apollo Lighting does not determine or modify a manufacturer's warranty coverage or final claim decision, but we are happy to help provide purchase information and direct you to the appropriate manufacturer or warranty resource.

Keep your receipt, product documentation, serial number information, and original packaging when practical. Damage caused by normal wear, misuse, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, corrosion, impact, unauthorized modifications, electrical issues, or operation outside the manufacturer's specifications may not be covered. Warranty claims are separate from standard returns, so a product that has been installed, used, or exposed to marine conditions may no longer qualify for return while still remaining eligible for evaluation under the manufacturer's applicable warranty.
