Description

Overview

The Blue Sea Systems A-Series Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker is a single-pole magnetic-hydraulic breaker for AC and DC marine electrical panels. It combines circuit protection and switching in one panel-mounted unit, making it useful for branch circuits where the breaker also needs to act as the on/off control.

This range covers multiple amperage ratings from 2.5A through 50A, with matching AC and DC ratings by variant. The breaker is rated for up to 240V AC and 32V DC, with interrupt capacity of 3000A at 125V AC, 1500A at 240V AC, and 5000A at 32V DC.

The flat rocker sits flush when it is in the ON position, which helps reduce accidental switching in tight helm, cabin, or electrical panel locations. A color indicator marks the OFF position, and the international ON/OFF symbols allow the breaker to be mounted vertically or horizontally without confusing the operator.

Key features
  • Single-pole A-Series breaker for marine AC or DC branch circuits.
  • Magnetic-hydraulic, trip-free operation, so the rocker cannot be held ON during a fault current condition.
  • Flat rocker actuator sits flush in the ON position and shows a color indicator in the OFF position.
  • Rated up to 240V AC and 32V DC, with interrupt capacity of 3000A at 125V AC, 1500A at 240V AC, and 5000A at 32V DC.
  • Available amperage range runs from 2.5A to 50A for matching the protected load and branch-circuit wiring.
  • International ON/OFF symbols support vertical or horizontal panel mounting.
  • Uses #6-32 stainless steel mounting screws and #10-32 stainless steel terminal screws.
  • Operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, with 10,000 switching cycles at rated amperage and voltage.
Variants

The varying attribute across this range is amperage. The available ratings cover low-current electronics circuits as well as heavier accessory loads, so the selected breaker rating needs to match the circuit design, conductor size, and expected load rather than the available panel space alone.

The breaker type, single-pole layout, flat rocker actuator, voltage ratings, interrupt ratings, stainless steel screw hardware, and operating temperature range remain consistent across the verified A-Series flat rocker single-pole variants.

Installation and fit

This breaker is intended for panel mounting in a boat electrical system where space, vibration, and operator access matter. The flush ON position is helpful on switch panels near the helm, companionway, cabin entry, or service area where a raised actuator could be bumped by gear, clothing, or hands moving around the panel.

Mounting uses #6-32 stainless steel screws with a mounting screw torque of 6 in-lb. The electrical terminals use #10-32 stainless steel screws with a screw terminal torque of 14 in-lb. Correct torque matters on boats because loose terminations can heat up under load and vibration can work marginal connections loose over time.

Electrical and system integration

Because this breaker is rated for both AC and DC service, it can be used in properly designed marine panels for the correct circuit type and voltage. The 240V AC and 32V DC maximum voltage ratings make it suitable for many common onboard panel applications, but the breaker rating still needs to follow the vessel wiring plan and the protection requirement for that specific conductor and load.

The trip-free mechanism is important in real fault conditions. If the circuit has a fault current condition, the breaker is not meant to be forced closed by holding the rocker in the ON position. That behavior helps keep the breaker acting as protection rather than just a switch.

Use cases on board

This A-Series flat rocker breaker is a practical match for boat owners, installers, and refit teams building or servicing AC/DC panels where switching and overcurrent protection share the same panel position. It suits helm panels, cabin distribution panels, electrical lockers, and accessory circuits where clear ON/OFF status and a low-profile actuator are useful.

For new installations or panel replacements, the amperage variant should be selected as part of the whole circuit, including the load, wire gauge, voltage drop, and applicable marine electrical practices. For replacements, match the breaker style, pole count, voltage service, and amp rating to the existing protected circuit before installation.

Product warranty

Many products sold by Apollo Lighting include a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Warranty terms vary by brand, product category, and model, so eligibility, coverage duration, exclusions, and available remedies are determined by the applicable manufacturer. We recommend reviewing the warranty information provided with your product before installation or use, especially for marine electronics, navigation equipment, lighting, electrical systems, pumps, safety equipment, and other specialized marine products.

If you need warranty service, the claim must follow the process established by the manufacturer, authorized service center, or designated warranty provider. You may be asked for proof of purchase, a serial number, product registration, photos, maintenance or installation records, or other documentation. Apollo Lighting does not determine or modify a manufacturer's warranty coverage or final claim decision, but we are happy to help provide purchase information and direct you to the appropriate manufacturer or warranty resource.

Keep your receipt, product documentation, serial number information, and original packaging when practical. Damage caused by normal wear, misuse, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, corrosion, impact, unauthorized modifications, electrical issues, or operation outside the manufacturer's specifications may not be covered. Warranty claims are separate from standard returns, so a product that has been installed, used, or exposed to marine conditions may no longer qualify for return while still remaining eligible for evaluation under the manufacturer's applicable warranty.
