Description

Overview

The Vimar Idea 17038 is a German-standard (SCHUKO) 2P+E socket outlet rated 16 A at 250 V~ for flush mounting in the Vimar Idea modular system. It occupies 2 reduced modules and uses screw terminals for the wiring connections, with an IP20 protection level for dry, interior installations.

On board, this type of outlet is commonly used for cabin, saloon, and nav-station power where a German plug standard is required. Since IP20 is intended for protected spaces, plan it for areas that stay dry and away from direct spray; circuit protection (breaker and residual-current protection) should be provided upstream in the vessel’s AC distribution.

Key features
  • German-standard (SCHUKO) 2P+E outlet, rated 16 A, 250 V~, 50/60 Hz
  • SICURY front contact protection to reduce access to live parts from the front
  • IP20 protection level for dry, interior locations
  • Flush-mount format for Vimar Idea installations, using 2 reduced modules
  • Screw terminal connections for a solid, serviceable wiring termination
  • Thermoplastic construction with a matt finish and a label/information surface
  • No integrated USB power supply and no built-in on/off switching
Variants

This socket outlet is offered in two color configurations to match different Idea plates and surrounding trim.

The visible color changes between variants; the outlet type, electrical rating, and 2-module reduced format remain the same.

  • VM17038: Color Gray. Suits darker frames and plates for a low-contrast finish on bulkheads and panels.
  • VM17038.B: Color Ivory. Blends with lighter frames and plates for a cleaner look in cabins and saloons.
Compatibility and fit

This outlet is intended for German-standard (SCHUKO) plugs and AC circuits up to 250 V and 16 A. Confirm your vessel’s shore-power standard, onboard socket standard, and the Vimar Idea mounting hardware already in place so the module count and faceplate layout match your panel or bulkhead cutout.

Installation and setup

Install it in a compatible Idea flush box and frame, then terminate conductors at the screw terminals with correct stripping length and a firm clamp. Keep the earth connection continuous through the AC system, secure wiring to prevent vibration fatigue, and place the outlet where it will not be exposed to washdowns or dripping lockers.

Use cases on board

This is a good fit for boats already using Vimar Idea devices where you need a German-standard outlet for chargers and small AC loads in interior spaces. It also works well for refits that are standardizing outlet style across cabins and common areas while keeping the same modular look as nearby switches and controls.

Product warranty

Many products sold by Apollo Lighting include a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Warranty terms vary by brand, product category, and model, so eligibility, coverage duration, exclusions, and available remedies are determined by the applicable manufacturer. We recommend reviewing the warranty information provided with your product before installation or use, especially for marine electronics, navigation equipment, lighting, electrical systems, pumps, safety equipment, and other specialized marine products.

If you need warranty service, the claim must follow the process established by the manufacturer, authorized service center, or designated warranty provider. You may be asked for proof of purchase, a serial number, product registration, photos, maintenance or installation records, or other documentation. Apollo Lighting does not determine or modify a manufacturer's warranty coverage or final claim decision, but we are happy to help provide purchase information and direct you to the appropriate manufacturer or warranty resource.

Keep your receipt, product documentation, serial number information, and original packaging when practical. Damage caused by normal wear, misuse, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, corrosion, impact, unauthorized modifications, electrical issues, or operation outside the manufacturer's specifications may not be covered. Warranty claims are separate from standard returns, so a product that has been installed, used, or exposed to marine conditions may no longer qualify for return while still remaining eligible for evaluation under the manufacturer's applicable warranty.
