Description
Overview
The Vimar ARKÉ Series is a 230V rotary dimmer for resistive incandescent lighting loads from 100 to 500W at 50-60 Hz. It is a flush-mounted module with snapper fastening, IP40 protection, and a thermoplastic body, with a mechanism size of 22.3 mm wide by 49 mm high and a depth that varies from 58.5 to 60.5 mm depending on the reference.
On board, this type of dimmer makes sense in protected interior spaces such as cabins, saloons, and other dry accommodation areas where the vessel has a 230V AC circuit and conventional incandescent lamps. The rotary control includes a locator visible in darkness, which helps when adjusting cabin lighting at night without adding extra light just to find the control.
Key features
- 230V AC, 50-60 Hz dimmer for resistive incandescent lamps from 100 to 500W
- Rotary potentiometer control with locator visible in darkness
- Flush-mounted format with snapper fastening for built-in switch installations
- IP40 protection for dry interior mounting locations
- Thermoplastic construction with multiple colour and finish references
Variants
This dimmer is offered in multiple colour and finish configurations under the references listed below.
Across the listed references, the basic function stays the same: a 230V, 50-60 Hz rotary dimmer for 100-500W resistive incandescent loads. What changes between variants is the visible colour and surface finish, so the reference should be matched to the surrounding trim already installed.
- VM14150: White, glossy finish. This version keeps a clean white appearance for installations built around light-coloured trim.
- VM19150: Grey, matte finish. The darker face changes the visual match while keeping the same electrical role.
- VM19150.M: Color Metal, matte finish. This reference adds a metallic look for installations where the switchgear has a more technical appearance.
- VM14150.SL: Color Silver, glossy finish. The silver face changes the visible finish more than the function and is useful when matching plated or silver-toned trim.
- VM19150.B: Color White/Antibacterial, matte finish. This reference is identified by its white antibacterial finish while keeping the same control format.
Compatibility and fit
This dimmer is for 230V AC circuits only and is intended for resistive incandescent lamps within the 100-500W load window. It is not the right match for low-voltage 12V or 24V DC lighting circuits, and it should not be assumed to work with LED loads unless the lamp system itself is specified for this style of dimming.
IP40 protection points to indoor mounting locations away from spray, washdowns, and open weather. On a boat, that usually means accommodation spaces or other enclosed areas rather than cockpit surfaces, exterior bulkheads, or any position that sees direct moisture.
Installation and use on board
Because it is a flush-mounted unit with snapper fastening, it needs a compatible built-in mounting point and matching trim system. Before ordering, the main check is the reference code and finish so the dimmer sits correctly with the surrounding switchgear already fitted on board.
This dimmer suits boats with a 230V interior lighting circuit that still uses incandescent fittings and needs simple manual light control at the wall. It is less relevant on vessels built around low-voltage LED lighting or networked switching systems.

Product warranty
Product warranty
Many products sold by Apollo Lighting include a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Warranty terms vary by brand, product category, and model, so eligibility, coverage duration, exclusions, and available remedies are determined by the applicable manufacturer. We recommend reviewing the warranty information provided with your product before installation or use, especially for marine electronics, navigation equipment, lighting, electrical systems, pumps, safety equipment, and other specialized marine products.
If you need warranty service, the claim must follow the process established by the manufacturer, authorized service center, or designated warranty provider. You may be asked for proof of purchase, a serial number, product registration, photos, maintenance or installation records, or other documentation. Apollo Lighting does not determine or modify a manufacturer's warranty coverage or final claim decision, but we are happy to help provide purchase information and direct you to the appropriate manufacturer or warranty resource.
Keep your receipt, product documentation, serial number information, and original packaging when practical. Damage caused by normal wear, misuse, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, corrosion, impact, unauthorized modifications, electrical issues, or operation outside the manufacturer's specifications may not be covered. Warranty claims are separate from standard returns, so a product that has been installed, used, or exposed to marine conditions may no longer qualify for return while still remaining eligible for evaluation under the manufacturer's applicable warranty.
