Overview
The Vimar Idea 16782 Classica cover plate is a 2-module die-cast metal plate for panel mounting in the Idea range. It measures 40 x 137 x 8.9 mm, can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and has a lacquered glossy surface.
This is a finishing part for protected interior switch locations where a metal faceplate is preferred over a polymer trim. It is halogen-free, includes a label space, and carries an IP00 rating, so it belongs in enclosed or otherwise protected areas rather than exposed deck or washdown locations.
Key features
2-module Classica cover plate for panel-mounted Idea installations
Can be mounted horizontally or vertically to match the panel layout
Die-cast metal construction with a lacquered glossy finish
Halogen-free body with label space or information surface
Suitable for panel mounting, built-in installation, wall ducts, and subfloor installation duct boxes
IP00 protection rating for interior use in dry, protected spaces
Variants
This range is offered in several metal finishes, including ivory, metallized silver, white, chrome, polished gold, brushed nickel, black, and black chrome. The finish is the main visual difference across the listed versions, so the plate can be matched more closely to switch trim, hardware, and the surrounding interior.
Across the range, the core format stays the same: 2 modules, die-cast metal construction, panel mounting, and the same overall dimensions. That makes the choice mostly about appearance and how the plate ties into the rest of the helm, cabin, or control panel.
Compatibility and fit
This plate fits the 2-module Idea format and is meant for panel-mounted switching assemblies. The narrow 40 mm width and 137 mm height suit slim switch runs and stacked layouts where panel space is limited but a finished front face still matters.
It also works in built-in installations, wall ducts, and subfloor duct boxes when that is how the switch assembly is being housed. For a refit, the main point to confirm is the underlying Idea 2-module arrangement rather than electrical load, since this part is a cover plate and not the switching device itself.
Installation and setup
Horizontal and vertical mounting support makes panel layout easier when you are working around gauges, chart areas, or furniture lines. Clamp mounting keeps the installation straightforward on a prepared panel cutout, and the glossy lacquered surface is easy to wipe down in enclosed onboard spaces.
Because the protection rating is IP00, this plate makes sense in cabins, enclosed helm stations, nav areas, and other interior control points where the face of the switch assembly is sheltered. It is not the right choice for open exterior positions that see spray, washdowns, or direct weather.
Use on board
This is a good match for boats already using the Vimar Idea system and needing a metal trim piece for a cleaner finished panel. It also suits projects where finish choice matters, such as cabin refits, interior helm updates, or matching switch plates to nearby metal hardware and trim.

Product warranty
Product warranty
Many products sold by Apollo Lighting include a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Warranty terms vary by brand, product category, and model, so eligibility, coverage duration, exclusions, and available remedies are determined by the applicable manufacturer. We recommend reviewing the warranty information provided with your product before installation or use, especially for marine electronics, navigation equipment, lighting, electrical systems, pumps, safety equipment, and other specialized marine products.
If you need warranty service, the claim must follow the process established by the manufacturer, authorized service center, or designated warranty provider. You may be asked for proof of purchase, a serial number, product registration, photos, maintenance or installation records, or other documentation. Apollo Lighting does not determine or modify a manufacturer's warranty coverage or final claim decision, but we are happy to help provide purchase information and direct you to the appropriate manufacturer or warranty resource.
Keep your receipt, product documentation, serial number information, and original packaging when practical. Damage caused by normal wear, misuse, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, corrosion, impact, unauthorized modifications, electrical issues, or operation outside the manufacturer's specifications may not be covered. Warranty claims are separate from standard returns, so a product that has been installed, used, or exposed to marine conditions may no longer qualify for return while still remaining eligible for evaluation under the manufacturer's applicable warranty.
