Overview
The Vimar Idea 16005 is a 1-module 2-way rocker switch for the Idea modular range, with a 1P 16 AX 250 V rating and IP40 protection. It uses screw terminals, mounts flush, and has a thermoplastic body with a matt finish. Overall size is 24.8 mm wide, 50.1 mm high, and 36.5 mm deep, with a built-in depth of 23.3 mm.
On board, this switch fits protected interior AC installations where you want clean panel integration and familiar switching hardware. It is the kind of part that suits cabins, galleys, heads, and other sheltered spaces on a boat or yacht. IP40 also makes its intended mounting location clear: inside the vessel, not on exposed deck areas or anywhere that sees regular spray or washdowns.
The 2-way function matters when one circuit needs control from two points, such as lighting controlled at both ends of a passageway or from a cabin entry and berth area. The 1-module format also matters if the vessel already uses Vimar Idea frames and cover plates and you want the panel layout to stay consistent.
Key features
- 1P 16 AX, 250 V 2-way rocker switch for AC circuits that need switching from two locations
- 1-module Idea format for compact switch panels and consistent modular layouts
- Flush-mounted body with snap engagement and screw terminal connections
- Thermoplastic, halogen-free construction with untreated matt surface
- IP40 protection for protected interior installations
- Compact body at 24.8 x 50.1 x 36.5 mm with 23.3 mm built-in depth
Variants
This range is offered in multiple configurations within the same Idea 16005 switch family.
Across the variants, the main differences are color and front marking. The range includes gray and ivory finishes, plus standard rocker faces, an indicator version, and marked versions for fan or light circuits. Where those details do not change, the core switch format remains the same, including the 1-module layout and 2-way switching function.
Electrical and system integration
This is a 250 V switch, so it belongs in mains AC circuits rather than 12 V or 24 V DC switching. That is an important fit check on a boat, especially where low-voltage and shore power systems sit close together behind the same panel. The screw terminal connection also makes it suitable for service work and panel refits where secure conductor termination matters.
The marked fan and light versions help keep multi-switch panels easier to read at a glance. That can be useful in cabins, heads, or utility areas where several matching modules control different loads side by side.
Installation and fit
The switch is made for flush mounting in the Vimar Idea modular system and occupies one module. Its compact body helps in consoles and bulkheads where rear depth is limited, while the snap-in format keeps the front of the panel neat once it is installed with the correct Idea support components.
This product is a good match for boats and yachts already fitted with Vimar Idea hardware, and for refits where the goal is to keep a clean, uniform interior switch layout without mixing formats across the vessel.

Product warranty
Product warranty
Many products sold by Apollo Lighting include a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Warranty terms vary by brand, product category, and model, so eligibility, coverage duration, exclusions, and available remedies are determined by the applicable manufacturer. We recommend reviewing the warranty information provided with your product before installation or use, especially for marine electronics, navigation equipment, lighting, electrical systems, pumps, safety equipment, and other specialized marine products.
If you need warranty service, the claim must follow the process established by the manufacturer, authorized service center, or designated warranty provider. You may be asked for proof of purchase, a serial number, product registration, photos, maintenance or installation records, or other documentation. Apollo Lighting does not determine or modify a manufacturer's warranty coverage or final claim decision, but we are happy to help provide purchase information and direct you to the appropriate manufacturer or warranty resource.
Keep your receipt, product documentation, serial number information, and original packaging when practical. Damage caused by normal wear, misuse, improper installation, insufficient maintenance, corrosion, impact, unauthorized modifications, electrical issues, or operation outside the manufacturer's specifications may not be covered. Warranty claims are separate from standard returns, so a product that has been installed, used, or exposed to marine conditions may no longer qualify for return while still remaining eligible for evaluation under the manufacturer's applicable warranty.
