Overview

The TACO Marine 1-1/2" x 5/8" Rigid Vinyl Rub Rail is a 20' rigid vinyl rub rail profile made for replacing or upgrading the protective rail along the hull and deck joint on smaller boats. The profile measures 1-1/2" high by 5/8" wide, giving the edge of the boat a clean finished look while helping handle normal contact with docks, pilings, and other close-quarter surfaces.

This rub rail works well on center consoles, bay boats, skiffs, cabin cruisers, and catamarans in the 16' to 22' range. It is drilled and countersunk for #8 screws on 8" centers, which helps simplify layout during installation. Standard woodworking tools can be used for cutting and drilling, while heat is required when forming the rail around tighter radiuses.

Variants

This rub rail is offered in two color configurations. Both variants use the same 20' length and the same 1-1/2" x 5/8" rigid vinyl profile.

The color is the key difference between the variants, so the selection affects how the finished rail looks against the hull, deck, and existing trim.

• V21-9678BKA20D: Black. This option suits boats with dark trim lines, black inserts, or a higher-contrast rub rail look along the hull side.
• V21-9678WHA20D: Arctic White. This option suits white or light-colored hulls where a cleaner blend with the gelcoat is preferred.

Installation and setup

Plan the run before fastening, especially around the bow and any tight turns. Because this is a rigid profile, heat is part of the forming process when the rail needs to follow a radius. Dry fitting the rail first helps confirm screw alignment, end positioning, and the way the profile sits against the hull and deck joint.

The matching flexible insert is not included and should be handled as a separate installation item. Once installed, the insert covers the screw line and gives the rub rail a more finished appearance while adding a softer surface for normal dockside contact.
