Overview
The TACO Marine V21-0188BKA20D is a black rigid vinyl rub rail for boats that need a clean protective edge along the hull and deck joint. This 20 ft. profile measures 1-9/16 in. high by 13/16 in. wide and is made for use without a separate insert, which keeps the finished edge simple and helps reduce extra trim pieces during installation.
This rub rail is a practical fit for work boats, center consoles, ski boats, and similar vessels where the rail needs to handle dock contact, trailer handling, and everyday bumps around slips and pilings. The black finish gives the boat a defined edge while helping protect exposed corners and seams from scuffs and light impacts.
Key features
- Rigid vinyl rub rail profile in black for a finished hull edge with impact protection.
- 20 ft. length covers long runs along the hull, deck joint, transom, or other perimeter trim areas.
- 1-9/16 in. height and 13/16 in. width help confirm fit against an existing rail profile or replacement location.
- Made for use without an insert, reducing the number of trim components needed on the boat.
- Drilled and countersunk for #8 fasteners on 6 in. centers for consistent mounting along the run.
- Cuts and drills with standard woodworking tools, making trimming and fitting more straightforward during installation.
- Heat is required for radius forming when the rail needs to follow tighter curves.
- Made in the USA and backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
Installation and setup
Before ordering, compare the 1-9/16 in. by 13/16 in. profile with the rail being replaced, especially if matching an older factory installation. Rub rail shapes can look similar in photos but differ enough to affect how they sit against the hull, so checking height, width, fastener spacing, and the mounting surface is important.
The rail can be cut and drilled with common woodworking tools. For tighter bends around the bow or other curved sections, heat is needed to help the rigid vinyl follow the radius without forcing the profile out of shape. Because the rail is drilled and countersunk for #8 screws on 6 in. centers, the fastener layout should be checked against the boat before final placement.
Use cases on board
This rub rail suits boats that see regular docking, launching, fishing, or utility use and need a straightforward protective edge rather than a decorative multi-piece insert system. It is especially useful when replacing a damaged black rigid vinyl rail or refreshing the hull edge on a boat where the rub rail also helps cover and protect the hull-to-deck seam.
